How to connect a TCL Roku TV to Alexa

You can now use Alexa to control your TCL Roku TV with voice. When paired with your Roku device, you can command Alexa to open a specific channel, check the news, and tell you some weather updates.

You can also use it to turn your TV on or off, adjust the volume, and switch between input devices. But before you can use voice commands, you first need to connect TCL TV to Alexa or integrate it with Roku Voice.

For this to work, you need a compatible TCL Roku device running OS 8.2 or higher such as the 5-Series models, or later that works with Alexa.

Additionally, you need a Roku account, Alexa mobile app on either Android or iOS, and an Alexa-enabled device like Amazon Echo, Echo Dot, Echo Plus, or Echo Show. A third-party device that runs Alexa can also work.

How to enable Alexa on your TCL TV

Now that you’ve met the requirements above, follow these steps to connect Alexa to your TCL Roku TV:

1. Link your Roku account to your Alexa account

The first step is to link your accounts. Here is how:

  • Download and install the Alexa app on your mobile device. Visit Google Play Store or App Store to get the application.
  • Once installed, launch the app on your phone.
  • Tap the Menu and select Skills and Games.
  • In the search bar provided, search for Roku.
  • Select Roku once you find it.
  • Select Enable Skill.

At this point, you should sign in to your Roku account.

2. Link your Roku devices

In this step, you need to link all your Roku devices to continue. If you have several players linked to one account, select one device to control with Alexa.

  • After signing in to your Roku account, select the device you wish to control with Alexa. If you have several of them, choose the option Select All.
  • Select Continue.

Close your Roku account or follow the prompts to go back to the Alexa app.

At this point, the Alexa application will search for your Roku device on the Device Discovery screen. Ensure you have powered on your TV. If it is off, the Alexa app will not get it.

3. Manage devices

After linking your Roku devices with your Roku account, the following:

  • At the Alexa app, select the TCL Roku TV you would like to control using voice commands.
  • Tap Continue.
  • Select the Alexa device you want to control your TCL Roku TV.
  • Select Link Devices.
  • Go to the home control tab of your Alexa app.
  • Select the existing group to which you want to add your Roku device.
  • Or, create a new group by tapping on the add button.

  • Tap on Skills & Games.
  • Enter Roku in the search bar.
  • Select the skill from the list.
  • Tap Disable Skill.
  • Select Disable.
  • Tap Enable to Use.

Link your account as described above.

Also, if you cannot find your TCL Roku TV to link to after logging into your Roku account from the Alexa app, consider the steps below:

  • Check whether you have linked the device to another Roku account.
  • Check any linked account by going to Settings – System – About.

Another option is to clear the browser and cache data and try again.

  • Press the Home button on your remote.
  • Scroll up or down and select Settings.
  • Press the right arrow button and select System.

If you have a TCL Roku device running OS 8.2 or higher, you can use Alexa to control the TV.

The first thing you need to do is to create a free account with Alexa and Roku. Next, download and install the Alexa app on your Android or iOS device.

You will then have to link both accounts and your streaming devices. From here, you should finish the setup and start using voice commands.
