TSN Direct – 5 things to know before you sign up

TSN Direct by TSN allows you to stream sports content live and on-demand. The streaming service offers its content through five feeds: TSN1, TSN2, TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5.

You need a subscription to access any of their services. However, you’ll get to enjoy bonus streams for free after you’ve subscribed to a package.

That’s not the only thing you need to know -and that’s why I have created this guide. Here, you will learn what to expect after signing up for a TSN package to avoid getting frustrated later on.

What is included in TSN Direct?

TSN Direct has many sports events, including Thursday Night, Sunday Night, and Monday Night Football, NFL RedZone on Sundays during the regular season, and many other Sunday afternoon games.

In addition, a subscription will allow you to watch Wild Card Weekend, the NFL Draft, news and highlights, and Pro Bowl.

5 things to know before signing up for TSN Direct

Before creating a premium account, you must understand the following five things.

1. TSN Direct offers three subscription options

How much does TSN Direct cost? TSN has three subscription options, namely:

1. Day Pass

The Day Pass is the most affordable subscription option. The plan will cost you $7.99 daily and give you access to all content for 24 hours.

Note that the subscription does not renew automatically, and the service only bills it as one payment.

2. Month Pass

The Month Pass costs $19.99 per month. The monthly subscription renews automatically after 30 days.

Once you subscribe, you will not get a refund. However, you can cancel at any time.

3. Annual Pass

The Annual Pass has the best value for money. It costs $16.66 per month for 12 months.

However, the difference with the monthly option is that TSN Direct will charge you $199.90 when subscribing for the first time. Furthermore, the plan is non-refundable and will renew automatically every year.

If you decide to cancel your subscription midway, you will still be able to stream content for the rest of the year. Once your billing period ends, TSN will not renew it automatically.

If you do not prefer subscribing to TSN Direct, you can still access the content by logging in using your TV service provider.

In that case:

  • Go to TSN.ca on the web.
  • Select Sign In.
  • Click on the tab titled Select Your TV Provider.

You will have to provide the login credentials (username and password) you used to create an account with a TV provider.

Once authenticated, you will access TSN content without an extra charge.

TSN Direct is only available in Canada. If you are looking for sports streaming options for the US or other Geos, consider Sportsnet Now, FreeSports TV, Bally Sports, and Peacock.

2. You can watch TSN Direct on different devices

TSN Direct allows users to access its programs on their preferred devices, including:

  • iPad, iPod, and iPhone running iOS 10+.
  • Android phones and tablets with OS version 4.0+.
  • Windows devices (desktops, tablets, and smartphones) with OS version 8.1.
  • Desktop browsers, including Chrome 58+, Firefox 52+, IE 11+, Edge 14+, and Safari 10+.
  • Samsung Smart TVs and Blu-ray players with Smart Hub models 2014-2018.
  • Xbox One.
  • Apple TV.

Alternatively, you can cast TSN streams using AirPlay and Chromecast.

TSN Direct

Although TSN Direct supports mobile devices with the latest operating system, the service does not support video playback of live content on mobile web browsers.

Therefore, it is best to download the app for iOS and Android to enjoy the best experience.

3. You can watch free videos on TSN

Although TSN is a premium platform, you can still access its content without a subscription or creating an account.

You can watch free videos on its website, including highlights of different sports events. However, the free videos have ads.

4. You’ll get access to all the network’s five feeds

A TSN Direct subscription lets you live to stream the network’s five national feeds. In other words, you can stream TSN1, TSN2, TSN3, TSN4, and TSN5 on multiple platforms. All feeds are equal.

The difference is that you will get a feed based on location to ensure you get regionally relevant content.

5. You may need a high-speed internet connection

TSN Direct has videos in 4K. Therefore, you need a high-speed internet connection to watch videos.

Use a home network or Wi-Fi to live stream sports events. If you use mobile, expect the streaming to consume a lot of bandwidth, between 0.2 and 0.9 GB per hour.

Is TSN on Amazon Prime?

TSN is not available on Amazon Prime.

However, you can access it by subscribing directly through its website or a participating TV provider in Canada.

How many devices can you have on TSN Direct?

A subscription allows you to stream sports and other content on the platform on two devices concurrently.

You can also stream on two devices or watch via your home’s set-top box simultaneously if you have a subscription with a participating TV provider.

Does TSN Direct have blackouts?

TSN Direct has blackouts depending on a user’s region and the type of sport.

Generally, regional blackouts apply for the coverage of teams featuring the Montreal Canadiens, Winnipeg Jets, Toronto Maple Leafs, and Ottawa Senators games.

Regional NHL coverage on TSN Direct is only available within the designated broadcast region of a team.

Furthermore, most TSN blackouts only apply to NHL games. Therefore, anybody in Canada can access other TSN programs that do not have regional blackouts.

Is TSN Direct good?

TSN Direct is the best service for Canadians who love sports. You can live stream different sports on 5 different channels; TSN1, TSN2, TSN3, TSN4, TSN5, and bonus coverage in 4K.

Furthermore, it is affordable and has flexible subscription options for users.
