Besides its diverse library, Disney Plus has one of the smoothest user interfaces. To deliver a customized experience, it uses your previous watching history to suggest similar content.
However, if you share accounts, this customization feature may not be ideal for others. Besides, the Watchlist makes it easier for others to know what you have been watching.
Removing content under “because you watched” on Disney Plus is an effective way to opt out of the customization feature.
Also, altering your watch history is ideal for private reasons, particularly when you do not want the other user(s) to know what kind of content you have been streaming.
So, how do you delete viewing history on Disney Plus? Unlike other platforms, you can’t view or erase viewing history on Disney Plus. However, there is a way around it if you want to manage your Watchlist.
You can create multiple profiles if your account has multiple users. Alternatively, you can checkmark movies on your Watchlist. If you checkmark an item you’ll have tricked the Disney Plus algorithm.
The alternative ways of deleting viewing history on Disney Plus include:
Option #1: Checkmark movies, shows, and TV series on your Watchlist
Since you can’t clear the Continue Watching list on Disney Plus on the go, you can checkmark some shows, movies, and TV series from the list.
Deleting an item from the Watchlist confirms to the platform’s algorithm that you are not interested in a certain niche.
To edit your Watchlist on a mobile device:
- Open the app
- Click your profile icon
- Open the WATCHLIST
- Select the movies, shows, and TV shows you want to delete
- Click DETAILS
- Click the Tick Icon
To remove items on your Watchlist on a web browser:
- Go to the Disney Plus website
- Login to your account
- Click WATCHLIST
- Select series show or movies you want to delete
- Tap the checkmark (next to Play icon)
To edit your Watchlist on Xbox, PlayStation, and Apple TV:
- Open the Disney Plus app on your Xbox
- Go to WATCHLIST
- Select all the movies, TV shows, and shows you want to delete
- Tap the checkmark to confirm
Once you have removed the shows, movies, and TV series from your watch list, Disney Plus automatically stops suggesting similar content.
The advantage of this alternative way of deleting watch history is other users will not know what you are watching.
Option #2: Create multiple profiles for users
In some cases, editing the checklist may be tiring and time-consuming. If you are tired of editing items on your Watchlist, you can create profiles for each user.
To create a new profile on mobile:
- Open the app
- Go to your profile
- Select Edit Profiles
- Click Add Profile
- Enter the profile name and select SAVE
If you are on a TV or web browser:
- Go to your profile
- Select Edit Profiles
- Click Add Profile
- Enter the profile name and select SAVE
Once you have created profiles for each user, you do not need to edit your Watchlist. Each profile will have its Watchlist and different watch suggestions.
One user’s suggestion (and streaming preference) will not affect other users’ algorithms.
Option #3: Forward the movies to the end
Users can view the watch history (of another user) by going to the “Continue Watching” list. Fortunately, fast-forwarding a TV episode, movie, or show removes it from the list.
If it is a movie, fast forward it until you see credits.
However, if it is a TV series (and you are not interested in it), you can remove it from the “Continue Watching” list by fast-forwarding its last episode.
In some cases, you may see its subsequent seasons on the Watchlist. If the Disney Plus algorithm suggests other seasons of the TV show you are not interested in, use option #1.
The three options are unmatched on concealing the recently watched list on Disney Plus. Check-marking movies on the Watchlist, creating more profiles, and fast-forwarding videos are the best ways to overpower the Disney Plus algorithm.
While they may be time-consuming, the options are efficient, especially if you have a shared account with other users.
