Cats are adorable both in real life and in movies. They are loving, great pets for kids and adults, and if you have a rat in your house, they provide excellent security.
Black cats evoke strong emotional reactions in people because different cultures attach meaning to their color.
In some cultures, black cats are associated with evil and witches, while in others, they are a sign of good luck.
Having a black cat in your home can be unnerving the first few times because it will surprise you when you hear meowing or purring without being able to see it.
That must be why some societies associate them with bad luck. Cats are common in movies, but black cats are quite rare. Here is a list of the best Disney films starring black cats.
1. Cinderella (1950)
Cinderella is based on the fairy tale. Cinderella’s father marries her stepmother, who brings with her two daughters and a cat.
As the story goes, the stepmother and her daughter do not plan on taking Cinderella to the ball with them, but her fairy godmother helps her.
When the prince starts looking for her, her stepmother realizes she has been at the ball and locks her up to ensure that she does not get to try on the slipper. After it does not fit her daughters, she breaks it.
Lucifer, the black cat, tries to ensure the animals do not get the keys to help her. Lucifer is evil and conniving, just like his owner and her daughters, and does everything to make Cinderella’s life unpleasant.
2. Pinocchio (1940)
The black cat in Pinnochio is called Figaro. In the movie, like in the story, Geppeto makes a puppet and names him Pinocchio, then wishes that he would become a real boy, and the wish comes true.
Figaro is Geppeto’s cat, and although he is black, he has a white chest. He is cute and friendly, although he can often be moody and sulk.
The panther, Bagheera, protects Mowgli, gives him advice, and is his friend. Bagheera found him as a baby, gave him to the wolves, and tried to convince Mowgli to go into the village when Shere Khan, the tiger, returned.
Geppeto also has a fish who advises Figaro and helps him make the right decision. Where Lucifer is a mean-spirited cat, Figaro is a delightful, generous, loving, and friendly cat.
3. Jungle Book (1967)
Although there are no house cats in the Jungle Book, there are two animals in the cat family: the tiger and the panther. The tiger wants to eat Mowgli, the boy lost in the forest and raised by wolves, and the panther and his friends protect him.
Mowgli insists on fighting the tiger but realizes he is too big for him to defeat, and Baloo, the bear, saves him. Bagheera and Baloo then take Mowgli to the village and return to the forest, knowing he is safe.
4. Bolt (2008)
In Bolt, the black Cat is Mittens. Mittens is cynical, streetsmart and runs a protection ring for pigeons. Bolt, the Dog, believes he has superpowers because he has never left the movie set on which he is the star.
Now faced with Mittens and the real world, he must learn how to be a dog differently. Bolt ties Mittens to his leash to ensure she does not escape until she can help him find his owner, Penny.
During the adventure, Mittens teaches Bolt about the real world and, ultimately, learns that pet owners can truly love their pets.
5. Zootopia (2016)
Zootopia is a beautiful reimagining of animal life. In the movie, all the animals live in the Zootopia city, where prey and predators live peacefully as neighbors, coworkers, and friends.
In the movie, the black cat is Manchas, a black panther. He is a driver of the local crime boss, Mr Big. Manchas is attacked by one of the predators that has gone fierce.
Manchas is a rule-following criminal underling of limited intelligence, but he becomes terrifying when he turns fierce and tries to eat Judy and Nick.
6. Aristocats (1970)
Aristocats is one of those movies that leaves you feeling good and happy even if you are an adult. It is about a family of pampered cats that get left in the countryside by a jealous heir.
He thinks that he will not get to inherit anything if he has to wait for the cats to die first. The cats meet O’Malley, who introduces them to the black cat of the movie Scat Cat.
Scat Cat is a charming jazz Maestro who leads a gang of cat musicians. The gang helps the cats return home, and their owner sets up a charity, allowing all the stray cats to live in her mansion.
7. The Emperor’s New Groove (2000)
Kuzco is a hilarious comedy series, and the movies are even funnier. Although the cats in these movies do not have a speaking part, they still make the movies mirthful.
“He is not as dead as we had hoped.” When Yzma poisons Kuzco, Krunk leaves him in a group of sleeping black jaguars, and in typical Kuzco fashion, the emperor wakes them up and has to run away screaming.
8. Hercules (1997)
In the 1997 Hercules, the black cat is called Snowball. He is a cute, supporting character who survives a fire. He is sooty and looks appropriately scared when he is rescued.
Cats are endearing and wonderful pets that can brighten your day. These animated movies prove that cats make your home happy in real life and can brighten it by starring in movies.
Disney has created a beautiful world where cats are not merely supporting characters but can also get major roles in their movies.
Hopefully, more black cats will be in Disney movies soon; cat lovers worldwide will love that.
