Disney+ will not move forward with Wonder Man Season 2. This is even though Marvel publicly renewed the series earlier this year.
The decision ends the show after one eight-episode season. It reverses an announcement made only four months ago.

The existing episodes remain available on Disney+.
Disney+ has reversed the season 2 renewal
Wonder Man was renewed for Season 2 in March 2026. This was around two months after its Disney+ debut. Marvel said Yahya Abdul-Mateen II would return as Simon Williams. Ben Kingsley, on the other hand, would reprise his role as Trevor Slattery.
Those plans are no longer moving forward.
Disney and Marvel have not issued a detailed public explanation for withdrawing the renewal. Marvel’s original Season 2 announcement is still available on their site. However, the series has come to an end.
This is therefore not a case of Season 2 being delayed or moved to another release window. The renewal itself has been reversed.
Work on season 2 had not properly started
Although Marvel had announced a second season, development appears not to have moved very far.
A writers’ room was never opened for Season 2, according to Variety. The writers connected to the planned season have now been released, allowing them to take work on other productions.
The cancellation happened before scripts were completed and before filming preparations began.
Disney has not explained why the show was canceled
The news came after Wonder Man received positive reviews. It also got an award nomination, but critical approval does not always lead to another season.
The series also entered Nielsen’s U.S. streaming originals chart during its launch week, recording 618 million viewing minutes. It did not remain on the chart the following week.
Production costs, future Marvel plans, subscriber engagement, cast availability, and several other factors could affect a renewal. None has been publicly identified as the reason for this cancellation.
The safest conclusion is that Disney and Marvel reconsidered the second season after announcing it. Any more detailed explanation remains unconfirmed.
Simon Williams could appear elsewhere in the MCU
Losing Season 2 does not necessarily mean Simon Williams has been removed from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Characters introduced or featured in Wonder Man could appear in other Marvel projects. That leaves room for Simon, Trevor, or another character to return through a movie, a different Disney+ series, or a smaller guest appearance.
No specific return has been confirmed. Marvel has not named another production, announced a contract, or provided a possible date.
