Roku launches a free hub for World Cup streaming in the UK

Roku has rolled out a new, free football destination for World Cup streaming in the UK. The platform, Football Zone, will offer a streamlined experience, making it easy for UK football fans to discover and enjoy full coverage of the upcoming FIFA World Cup tournament.

The Football Zone will be available across a variety of Roku devices in the UK, including Roku TV, Roku players, and Roku smart projectors. Football fans will be able to access the hub directly from the Roku Home Screen menu or via the “What to Watch” section.

Live World Cup streaming in one place

The defining feature of Roku’s new Football Zone will be content aggregation.

For the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament, UK broadcast rights are split between BBC, ITV, and STV. Unfortunately, this fragmentation means fans would have to jump between channels and streaming apps to enjoy the full World Cup coverage.

However, Roku’s Football Zone will act as a central hub, offering direct-to-match links for each match. This will eliminate the need to keep switching between various platforms, thus simplifying the World Cup streaming experience for UK fans.

Built for a streaming-first audience, the Football Zone shows where matches are available across supported apps, so that fans can focus on watching football, not searching for it,” shared Roku in a press release statement.

Match highlights and live tracking

Besides live coverage, Roku’s Football Zone will also offer a range of features to help UK fans keep up with all the World Cup action

These features include a dynamic scoreboard, which will cover all the matches in the FIFA World Cup 2026 tournament. The central hub will also offer a goal tally leaderboard, allowing fans to track top goal scorers.

According to Richard Halton, UK’s Roku Manager, the features offered by the Football Zone will make it easier for fans to support their favorite teams – including England and Scotland – and follow every moment of the World Cup tournament.

With England and Scotland competing, and fans across the UK backing teams from around the world, the tournament brings people together like few other moments. Roku’s new Football Zone makes it easier to find the games, follow the action, and enjoy every moment with ease.”

Fan engagement with additional football content

The Roku World Cup streaming hub is also designed to offer increased fan engagement during the tournament.

The Football Zone will offer a selection of highlights from the tournament’s top matches. It will also offer a variety of other football content, including movies, TV shows, and documentaries.

The additional football content will offer more engagement with the tournament, while helping to keep fans entertained in between the live matches.
