How to update Android TV software version

You can update to the latest Android version for Android TV either manually or automatically. The process entails going to your device settings and checking for new updates.

If you have set automatic updates, your Android TV will update the firmware automatically once it is available.

Note: You require an internet connection to update your TV’s software. Otherwise, you may want to download the latest software from your device’s website, store it on a flash drive, and then update your TV.

If you have an Android TV model, you can upgrade your Android TV version by doing the following:

  • Press the Home button on your remote.
  • Select Help (If you have Android TV version 8.0 or 9.0, select Apps, then Help).

Sometimes, your Android TV will display a notification message on your screen when a software update is available.

All you have to do is select Update. The software will download and install the updates.

Alternatively, do the following:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select System.
  • Tap About.
  • Go to System Update.

As your TV installs new updates, do not power it off or unplug the power cord because the download and installation process will stop.

However, after the installation, you can switch off your TV to apply the new updates. Then, once you power it back on, your TV will run on the latest software.
