Hallmark+: 5 things to know before you subscribe

Hallmark+ offers Hallmark romances, mysteries, family dramas, and Christmas movies on demand. It also includes exclusive series, reality shows, and shopping benefits.

It is not a direct replacement for Hallmark’s cable channels. Live television is separate, and some rewards depend on how you subscribe.

Before you pay, here are a few things you need to keep in mind.

1. Hallmark+ does not include the live Hallmark cable channels

A Hallmark+ subscription does not unlock live feeds of Hallmark Channel. It won’t give you other live TV stations such as Hallmark Mystery or Hallmark Family.

You need a participating live-TV streaming provider if you want to watch those channels. You could also subscribe to supported cable or satellite TV plans.

The Hallmark+ is mainly an on-demand service. It carries exclusive originals, older movies, library series, and new Hallmark series and movies the day after their television premieres.

2. The catalog goes beyond Christmas movies

Holiday films are a large part of the Hallmark identity. But this platform is designed for year-round use.

Its library covers romantic comedies, mysteries, and family dramas. It has unscripted programs, older television series, and originals.

The current Hallmark+ series lineup includes titles such as:

  • When Calls the Heart
  • The Way Home
  • Good Witch
  • Chesapeake Shores
  • The Chicken Sisters
  • Hope Valley: 1874

There are also British mysteries such as Rosemary & Thyme and Shakespeare & Hathaway, along with reality formats including Finding Mr. Christmas and Celebrations with Lacey Chabert.

3. The shopping rewards only work under certain conditions

Hallmark+ is both a streaming subscription and a retail membership. For people who buy cards, ornaments, and gifts from Hallmark, the non-streaming benefits can offset part of the price.

The standard benefits include:

  • A $5 Hallmark coupon each month
  • One free physical greeting-card coupon each month
  • One free custom greeting card each month
  • Unlimited digital eCards
  • 30 percent off selected custom cards
  • Up to 50 percent more Crown Rewards points. This is only on eligible purchases

The coupons expire at the end of the month and do not roll over. Product limits, taxes, shipping, and other conditions can also apply.

There is a bigger catch. Hallmark’s membership terms say these extra benefits are for subscribers who join through a Hallmark Media website or app and have a Crown Rewards membership. People billed through an in-app subscription are not eligible for the extra benefits.

4. The annual plan includes more perks

Hallmark+ costs $7.99 per month. For a whole year, you pay $79.99 plus applicable taxes. If you are new, you get a seven-day free trial.

Annual subscribers receive benefits that monthly members do not. Hallmark’s current plan comparison lists a new-member welcome gift, a birthday gift, a free Keepsake Ornament, and an anniversary gift after the first annual renewal.

Both plans renew automatically after the trial until cancelled, and Hallmark does not offer refunds. Monthly billing carries less risk, while regular Hallmark shoppers may get more value from the annual plan.

5. It is U.S.-only, and older devices do not work

This platform is available in the United States and its territories. These include Puerto Rico, Guam, and American Samoa.

The service also has stricter hardware requirements. You must have Roku OS 13 or Fire OS 6. For Apple, tvOS 17 is a must, and for Android TV, you need version 11 and above.

For native smart-TV, use Samsung models from 2023, LG televisions running webOS 22 or newer, and Vizio models from 2019 onward.

Mobile gadget viewing requires at least iOS 17 or Android 11. Chromecast is supported with the current operating system. Hallmark warns that older devices or outdated software may have reduced performance. Check your television or streaming box before starting the trial.
