To activate Viaplay on your Smart TV, install the Viaplay app, sign in, and link the TV to your account. This service provider uses a four-character activation code, which saves you from entering a long email address and password with your TV remote.
Viaplay supports Smart TVs and TV platforms in its active markets, although compatibility depends on the model and software version. You also need an active Viaplay account or access supplied through a participating TV provider.

How to activate Viaplay on your Smart TV
The setup only takes a few steps. Complete them in order, especially if this is the first TV you have connected to your Viaplay account.
1. Prepare your Viaplay account and internet connection
Before touching the TV app, make sure your account is ready. This prevents sign-in errors halfway through the setup.
You need:
- An active Viaplay account: Sign up through the Viaplay website for your country if you have not registered yet.
- Your account details: Keep the email address and password linked to Viaplay nearby.
- A working internet connection: Connect both your Smart TV and the phone, tablet, or computer you will use during activation to the internet.
- Access to your email: Viaplay may request account or household verification.
- A supported TV: Check Viaplay’s official Smart TV setup guidance if you are unsure about compatibility.
2. Download and install the Viaplay app
Where you find the app depends on your television. The activation procedure after installation remains largely the same.
Open your TV’s app store. The procedure depends on your OS:
- Samsung Smart TV: Open Apps, search for Viaplay, and select Install.
- LG Smart TV: Open the LG Content Store, search for Viaplay, and install it.
- Android TV or Google TV: Open Google Play Store, search for Viaplay, and select Install.
- Other supported TVs: Open the television’s built-in app marketplace and search for Viaplay.
Note: Some televisions already include Viaplay, so search your installed apps before downloading it again.
3. Open Viaplay and choose how to sign in
Launch the app after installation. Viaplay generally provides two sign-in methods on larger screens.
Choose either:
- Email and password: Enter your Viaplay email address and password directly with the TV remote.
- One-time code: Select the code option and leave the four-character code displayed on your TV.
The code method is usually easier for beginners because you finish most of the login on your phone or computer instead of typing with the television remote. Viaplay’s official login instructions confirm both methods for Smart TVs and other large-screen devices.
4. Enter the activation code on your phone or computer
Keep the application open on your TV while you complete this part.
Do the following:
- Open the activation page: On another device, visit the Viaplay activation address displayed on the screen.
- Enter the code: Type the four characters shown on your television.
- Sign in: Enter the email address and password for your Viaplay account when prompted.
- Return to your TV: The Viaplay app should sign in automatically within a few seconds.
5. Confirm your Viaplay Household if requested
Viaplay uses a Household system for accounts watched on televisions. Your main TV normally establishes the household using your home internet connection.
If Viaplay asks you to verify it:
- Connect to your home Wi-Fi: Use the internet connection where you normally watch Viaplay.
- Follow the TV prompt: Complete the household confirmation shown in the app.
- Check your email if requested: Viaplay may send a temporary verification code.
- Finish setup: Return to the TV and confirm that your profile and content library load normally.
Viaplay states that an account is intended for one household. Mobile devices should also connect to the home network periodically to remain associated with it.
