fuboTV review: 5 things to know before you sign up

The fuboTV streaming services initially started as a platform for fans to watch soccer at an affordable fee, reducing their expenses on cable or satellite subscriptions.

The service then grew to now become a well-rounded streaming platform with almost any sports channel imaginable.

fuboTV now has many on-demand and live non-sports content, including some of the best channels to watch movies, television shows, comedies, cartoons, documentaries, and more.

But should you sign up for fubo as a way of cutting the cord?

With fuboTV, you’ll get access to over 100 TV channels live and on-demand.

Although it primarily focuses on sports-related content, it also has a perfect mix of entertainment, including news, movies, and television shows.

Furthermore, you can access fubo on any device, including mobile phones, tablets, connected TVs, and gaming consoles. Alternatively, you can watch and cast videos from your computer through Chromecast.

Top 5 things to know before signing up on fuboTV

fuboTV has excellent offerings that may prompt a person to sign up for its services. But before considering the option, here are five things you should know.

1. fuboTV has cloud DVR functionality

You’ll enjoy cloud DVR functionality with any fuboTV subscription plan. The feature allows you to record live programs and watch them later.

You can record a live program on most channels before or during its airing.

Depending on your subscription plan, you can record up to 1,000 hours and store the content until you decide to delete it.

In fact, we’ve featured fuboTV in our list of streaming services with the best DVR.

2. fuboTV offers up to ten simultaneous streams

fuboTV bundle plans, at a minimum, have a feature called Family Share. The feature allows subscribers of the Starter plan to stream from three devices at a time.

But if three screens are not enough, you can subscribe to the Pro and Elite plans to enjoy up to ten simultaneous streams.

If you try to stream on more than the recommended devices, you’ll get a “too many devices in use” error message.

3. fuboTV offers add-on channels at an extra cost

Available TV channels

Although fuboTV gives you access to over 100 channels, you also have the option of upgrading your viewing experience by adding more channels and services to your subscription.

For example, you can add premium channels like SHOWTIME, STARZ, AMC, and EPIX in one package for $19.99 and get over 10,000 titles on-demand.

Other extra features will require you to pay between $2.99 and $19.99 to access them. Fortunately, all add-ons are optional and are not part of the subscription fee.

4. fuboTV offers limited events in 4K/HDR

fuboTV offers limited events in 4K. Furthermore, the platform has 4K content available on-demand.

However, the option is in BETA and only accessible on devices that have HDR10 technology. But since 4K/HDR is still in BETA, it means your user experience may not be the same.

Also, the 4K content requires you to have a minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps and a good router that supports 4K streaming.

5. You can use your fuboTV subscription to access TV Everywhere apps

An active fuboTV subscription gives you access to TV Everywhere apps and websites. That means you can select fuboTV as your service provider.

In that case, you will have to log in with your account to watch all the content provided by services like ABC, BET, AMC, BRAVO, CBS, CNBC, COMEDY CENTRAL, DISCOVERY, ESPN, FOX, FX, MSNBC, NAT GEO WILD, NBC, USA NETWORK, among others.

fuboTV works through a subscription model. Therefore, before signing up, you will have to choose a plan.

The platform has four plans with different price points – Starter, Pro, Elite, and Latino Quarterly. Once you choose a plan that suits you, the next step is to sign up by providing your payment details.

If you are new, you will get a 7-day free trial. Finally, you will get to access fubo on a device of your choice.

Furthermore, you have the option of paying for add-ons to enjoy more content.

Does fuboTV have Bally Sports?

Note that fuboTV does not have Bally Sports. The main reason for its omission is because of fee issues.

Therefore, you will not get Bally Sports on fuboTV either as a channel or add-on.

How many shows can you record at once?

The recording option on fuboTV is still in BETA mode. It allows you to record new episodes or all-new episodes and reruns of your favorite shows with a single click.

Also, the option is accessible on all streaming devices, including browsers, gaming consoles, Smart TVs, mobile phones, and tablets.

Is fuboTV worth it?

fuboTV is worth considering if you want to get an affordable streaming service and cut the cord. You can use it to watch thousands of sports events, movies, and films live and on-demand.

Furthermore, it has many features that improve your viewing experience, including the ability to record series and store content in cloud DVR.

If you love sports and would like to save some of your favorite shows to watch later, it is worth considering fuboTV. But if fuboTV doesn’t meet your demands, you can’t go wrong with either Peacock Sports or BallySports.
