The Xbox One app allows you to control your console. You can also use it to buy games from the app store, share your game captures across social networks, and keep yourself connected to other gamers.
But while you can do so much more with the application, sometimes you may encounter a problem using Xbox.
For example, you may experience a scenario where the application or a companion app is not loading, it has issues logging in, and it keeps crashing.
Whenever the Xbox app is not working, the games tend not to open. Also, you can’t sign into an Xbox account, stay connected with user conversations in Group Messaging, see what your friends are up to on Xbox Live, and even interact with or watch game content.
Several factors can explain why the application is not working for you.
Why Xbox app is not working
The app is either not working or not loading because of several issues including:
- A network interruption with the Xbox Live server
- The app is out-of-date
- Your app has lots of corrupted data
The app may not work on your Windows 10 because of some configuration settings.
How to fix common Xbox app problems
Here are some other common problems of the Xbox app and how to fix them.
1. Unable to sign in to Xbox app
If you have problems signing in to the Xbox app in Windows 10, here is what to do:
- Go to Xbox.com from your PC and click on Sign In.
- If your account has problems, follow the on-screen instructions to solve them.

After following them correctly, if the steps above do not work, try out these:
- Select Start
- Go to Settings
- Select Time & Language
- Under Date and Time, set the time to Automatically by turning it on
If that does not work and you can’t sign in to Xbox live on PC, do the following:

- Locate your Microsoft account for signing in to the Xbox app

3. Xbox app showing errors
If the Xbox app isn’t working and you are getting errors, it could be outdated and, therefore, you need to update it.
Also, an outdated application does not have the necessary components to run the latest features. As a result, it can lead to app crashes and other errors.
- Open Windows Store from your PC
- Click on the horizontal dots
- Select Downloads and Updates
- Click on Get Updates
The steps above will allow the application to load all the available updates.
Understand that the Xbox app can also stop working if Microsoft has released some patches for the Windows device you are using.
To get the latest Windows updates, go to Update and Security, and install any pending updates.
4. Unable to change gamerpic on Xbox app
The primary reason you are unable to change gamerpic on the Xbox app is that Microsoft disabled some of the features.
This happened because Xbox was recording huge traffic across its services, including Mixer, Xbox Live, and Xbox Game Pass. Some of the disabled features include:
- Custom club pictures
- Custom club backgrounds
- A custom gamer picture
Whenever you upload a custom picture, you will get the message – “Sorry, we can’t upload your picture right now. Try again in a little while.” The best fix is to wait until Microsoft resolves the issue.
