Apart from making good TVs, Hisense has one of the best software support. Through software updates, users can access new features and, more importantly, fix common bugs.
This means that you should check software updates regularly for a better viewing experience.
What software does Hisense TV use? Hisense TVs run on VIDAA U, which is a customizable software that allows you to access multiple streaming apps.
So, how do you update it?
3 ways to update Hisense Smart TV software
There are three main methods when it comes to updating a Hisense Smart TV:
Option #1: Direct software update
If your Hisense Smart TV has an internet connection, updating the firmware using this option is easy. This Hisense TV firmware hack is fast, regardless of your TV model.
However, before starting the process, ensure that the internet connection is stable and fast.
To complete the Hisense H8F firmware update:
- Go to Settings on your Hisense TV
- Navigate the Support option
- Scroll down to the third option, which is System Update.
- Click Check Firmware Update
- If the TV detects a new update, it will install automatically.
If your TV is running on the latest software, you can enable “Auto Firmware Update” on the settings page. Allowing the Hisense TV to auto-update the firmware whenever it is available saves time.
Option #2: Hisense TV software update via USB
Updating your Smart TV software via USB is a perfect option, especially if your TV does not have internet access.
Unlike the other option, updating the firmware via USB takes time. Also, not all flash drives will work on this process.
The recommended formats for the USB flash drive are FAT16, FAT32, exFAT, and NTFS formats. The flash drive must have enough space to transfer the downloaded firmware to your TV.
Once you have confirmed that the USB flash drive meets all the requirements:
- Download Hisense TV software from the Hisense website.
- Unzip the downloaded file on your computer
- Copy the upgrade_loader.pkg file on your USB flash drive
- Switch your TV OFF
- Put the USB flash on your Hisense TV
- Switch it ON
- Press the standby button on your remote
- Keep holding it until you see the TV logo followed by the Updating Software notification
- The process may take up to 15 minutes
Once the process is complete, the TV will restart. However, if Hisense Smart TV fails to update (or restarts more than two times), repeat the process.
Option #3: Contact your local Hisense Customer Support
If you have an older Hisense model, the two options above may not work. In such a case, contact the local Hisense Customer Support for an update.
The representative may request you to take the set to one of their stores, or they may mail a USB stick with a software update for your model.
If they ship the USB stick with the latest updates, use Option #2 to install the updated firmware.
Wrapping up
Whether you want to fix bugs or want to have a better viewing experience, updating the firmware is advisable.
Like other brands, you can either update the software directly or via USB, depending on your TV’s ability to access the internet.
