How to reset your Hisense Smart TV

Does your Hisense Smart TV have a problem that can be solved by resetting? Alternatively, do you want to sell it or give it away? Resetting it back to factory settings is the most recommended option for you.

While Hisense Smart TV may be similar to other Smart TVs in terms of functionalities, the reset processes are slightly different. To factory reset Hisense Smart TV —both old and new models — follow these steps.

Resetting procedure for old Hisense Smart TVs

If you own an old model of the Hisense TV and it has greyed out while watching, you should first try to reset it before considering buying a new Smart TV.

In order to reset the Smart TV:

  • Press the ‘EXIT’ key on your remote and hold it for at least 15 seconds
  • After 15 seconds, the Hisense TV factory service menu will appear
  • Click ‘OK’ and turn off the TV

After resetting your Smart TV, it is advisable to wait for 20 seconds before turning it on. This technique only works for 2013 and older models.

  • Select the last option, which is ‘Reset.’
  • Enter your security PIN to confirm your request

How to reset your Hisense Smart TV without a remote

If your Smart TV does not show any picture, it is impossible to use your remote to reset it. Fortunately, you can do a soft reset through the power cycle. To reset Hisense TV with no picture:

  • Disconnect any external hard disc or USB cable
  • Turn off your Hisense Smart TV
  • Unplug the power cable
  • Wait for two (2) minutes before plugging the TV back to power back
  • Switch you Smart TV ON

Soft resetting solves system bugs, but it is not the recommended option if you want to sell your Smart TV or give it away — consider the other two options.

In addition, this option works for both old and new Hisense Smart TV models.

When resetting your Hisense Smart TV, it is advisable to pay attention to time. For example, when doing a power cycle, waiting for two minutes before plugging the TV back to power is vital.

Using the original Hisense remote is advisable, regardless of whether your Smart TV is an old model or not.

  1. For hisense smart TV, I will suggest doing a factory reset while your TV is still connected to the internet. I did that and the TV updated it’s software and added more apps to the appstore. Until now, I’ve been unable to use any view cast. But after the factory reset, other useful apps came up which can easily substitute the anyview cast.

So resetting the TV can actually bring the desired solution.

  2. My TV takes forever to change channels, goes black, then back to the Home Screen. Says no internet connection but laptop works fine. Cleared cache as they recommended but no changes same problems. Why won’t they fix or honor their warranties? I only had my TV for 7 months. Should be taken off the market!!!

  3. My Hisense smart tv has stopped receiving channel 7 just tells me channel not found it jumps from channel 38 to 90. I have tried unpluging and repluging, nothing works.

  4. My Hisense is stuck in the dang network setup, I press the back arrow it wont go back to the main menu just beeps. I press the Home key on the remote and still I cannot get back to the HOME menu, just stuck in the
network settings. I turned the TV off for 2 minutes that didnt help either.
I removed the batteries out of the remote and pressed the power key for 15 seconds that did nothing for it either. Oh I even unplugged the TV from the power and let it set for 2 mintues, NOTHING! Has anybody else had this issue being stuck in the main Network settings?

  5. My Hisense tv is not a month old cant find the reciept I was watcthing it and it went off and I could never get it back on again

  6. Hisense,TV Model #40H4070E,,,serial #40M182011H00127, only BLUE screen, won’t do anything else, We don’t have the original remote, and it’s either fix it or throw it away

  7. Last update on my TV now it goes on and then two seconds later it shuts off ever since the update how do you fix it

  8. This Hisense 50″ Android TV is by far the crappiest TV that I’ve ever owned, and I’m 63 and had more that I gave away when moving than most people. Seriously… last year, I constantly had to unplug it and plug it back in to turn it on.
Now, I power it on, and it does its Hishit Android TV logo thing, then it turns off. I’m so over this. Hisense, I don’t care if they’re better now, but it takes so long for you to fix problems caused by previous updates, it seems by people writing in, that I will never trust your brand again.
Carving a TV in stone and watching birds on it… that’s more than I can watch on your TV right now.

  9. My TV goes to the logo, then restarts…… after last update…….. this is a major problem because there is no reset button.

  10. My Hisense Roku tv 65″ will not power on, I have tried power cycle from the outlet, changing outlets, reset button on the side where different connections are, holding down the power button on TV and remote, volume up and channel down, still have a black tv no power. I also had another power cord just like the one that came with it and it failed to fix the problem as well. This is a brand new tv. Does anybody have any more ideas on his to fix this?? The red light will not come on
