Can you download third-party apps on LG Smart TV?

You may encounter an issue whereby the LG Content Store does not have the app you want to install.

So, how do you install apps that are not available in the LG Content Store?

Unfortunately, LG’s unique operating system, WebOS, doesn’t allow the installation of apps from other sources. While this can be inconvenient, it is mostly designed to help protect your TV from harmful software.

The good thing is that WebOS supports all leading applications, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Hulu, and more.

Why are some apps not available on the LG Content Store

The app you want to install may be unavailable in your country because of location settings. In that case, change location settings on your TV through these steps:

  • Go to Settings.
  • Select General.
  • Choose Location.

If you cannot find it even after switching locations, the app is unavailable on the LG Content Store, and you cannot download and install it on your device.
