Buying a new smart TV always means you must switch it on, then start downloading apps one by one. You also need to log in again, and try to make the home screen feel normal.
A new CANAL+ deal is trying to remove some of that friction. In European CANAL+ markets, the CANAL+ app will come pre-installed on Sharp Smart TVs powered by TiVo. There will also be a dedicated CANAL+ button added to the remote as well.

Here is more information about this new deal:
What is the deal is actually changing
Sharp TV will not be pre-installed in every TV in every country. The deal is only about Sharp Smart TVs powered by TiVo in the European markets where CANAL+ operates.
These include the following:
- France
- Poland
- the Netherlands
- the Czech Republic
- Hungary
- Slovakia
- Belgium
- Romania
Why this matters more than it first looks
This deal is bigger than that because it changes where streaming services fight for attention. A few years ago, the main battle was over who had the best shows, films, or sports.
That still matters, but now there is another battle too: who gets the easiest spot on the TV. A pre-installed app and a branded remote button reduces the number of steps you need between turning on the TV and starting a stream.
This is viewer convenience at its best.
What you should expect to access
The deal is built around easier access to CANAL+ content on connected TVs. This brings you near to premium sports, movies, and series.
CANAL+ is also one of the larger media players in Europe. They had 18.3 million subscribers in the region in 2025. Odds are that it’s part of your streaming apps.
So, the company has strong reasons to make its app easier to reach on living-room devices. If you already have access to CANAL+, a pre-installed app and direct remote button makes your daily access to the platform simple.
The deal is also part of a wider pattern
This Sharp agreement does not look like a one-off move. In October 2025, CANAL+ announced a similar Europe-wide partnership with Thomson.
That earlier deal also put the CANAL+ app on Thomson smart TVs, included TiVo-powered models, and added a dedicated CANAL+ button on remote controls.
Put together, the Thomson and Sharp deals suggest CANAL+ is building a plan to secure front-row placement on smart TVs across Europe. They want to be on the screen from day one, and even on the remote in your hand.
What this does not mean
The app being pre-installed on your TV does not mean:
- CANAL+ becomes free with the TV
- Your older Sharp TiVo TV already purchased will get the same treatment automatically
