Why was Brilliant Minds cancelled?
Brilliant Minds season 1 ran from September 2024 to January 2025, and season two premiered in September 2025.
However, CBC pulled it from the February schedule after running for 14 episodes following its coverage of the Winter Olympics. The Voice singing competition instead expanded to two hours, taking Brilliant Minds’ slot on Monday nights.
The show will return with its remaining episodes starting May 27, 2026.
Brilliant Minds’ fans’ reactions

Brilliant Minds fans have taken it on social media to voice their confusion and frustration, with many blaming inconsistent scheduling and long breaks for hurting the show.
“Not to mention they would skip random weeks, switch nights, take a multi-week break for the holidays, then like a month off for the Olympics. It literally took them almost half a year to air a 13-episode season.
“It was so comically bad that it almost made me think whoever does the scheduling at NBC had a personal vendetta against this show. Like, no shit, the Nielsen ratings were “lacklustre”; you made it almost impossible to tune in, let alone stay invested,” a user said on Reddit.
“Praying it goes on another streaming service so it gets the views it deserves and hopefully gets picked up,” another user stated.
“Brilliant Minds wasn’t great by any means, but I really want to know what happened. We’ve been in the dark for over a season now,” another user complained.
