How to watch the ION Television network

ION Television is one of the easiest US channels to watch without any cable subscription. Its main feed is available free through a television antenna.

There are also several ad-supported streaming platforms. Paid services such as Frndly TV also carry it.

Watch ION free online

This network operates a free, ad-supported feed across several streaming platforms.

The official ION channel finder lists options including:

  • Tubi
  • Pluto TV
  • The Roku Channel
  • Samsung TV Plus
  • Sling Freestream
  • Plex
  • Google TV
  • LG Channels
  • Local Now
  • Tablo

Availability differs by platform and device. Some services will ask you to create a free account. Others let you begin watching without registration. None requires a separate ION subscription.

Tubi provides a direct ION live stream, making it one of the most straightforward choices. Open Tubi’s Live TV section, search for ION and select the channel. The stream includes the scheduled programmes and live sports shown on ION, with regular commercial breaks.

Sling users do not need an Orange or Blue subscription for this channel. ION is part of Sling Freestream, which is available without a paid Sling package.

These free services generally lack the recording features included with paid live-TV plans. They work best when you want to watch the current programme rather than save it for later.

Watch ION free with a TV antenna

ION is a broadcast network, so a television antenna could receive it without internet access or a monthly fee. You only pay for the antenna.

Enter your ZIP code in the ION station finder to check whether a local station reaches your area. ION does not have one channel number across the country. It could appear as a primary station in one city and a digital subchannel in another.

After connecting the antenna to your television, open its channel settings and run a new scan. Your television should add every available local station automatically.

This route gives you ION’s live schedule, including sports, but no automatic DVR. Recording over-the-air programmes requires a separate antenna DVR such as Tablo.
