How can you adjust the brightness on your Samsung TV using an Xfinity remote? Let’s find out!
Nowadays, it is very easy to use a different brand of remote to control your Samsung TV. This can be useful if you have lost your original TV remote or want to use a single remote to control several devices.
Below is a look at how to use your Xfinity remote to control the brightness level on your Samsung TV.
Pairing and programming your Xfinity remote for Samsung TV
Xfinity remotes are not designed purposefully to be used with Samsung TVs (or other TV models). Therefore, before using one with your TV, you must pair and program the remote to your device.
Fortunately, several ways exist to pair and program your Xfinity remote to your Samsung TV. These include:
1. Automatic code search pairing
You need a pairing code to program your Xfinity remote to your Samsung TV. Unfortunately, things can get tricky if you don’t have the required code.
Luckily, you can use the automatic search pairing method if you don’t have the code or are unsure about the one you have. To do this:
- Turn on your Samsung TV.
- Press and hold the “Setup” button ((or “Xfinity” and “Mute” buttons) on your Xfinity remote until the LED status color changes (from red to green).
- Enter code 991 on your remote’s number pad. After entering the code, the LED should blink twice (green).
- Press and release (repeatedly) the “Channel Up” button on your remote until your Samsung TV turns off.
- Press the “Setup” or the “OK” (center) button to lock in the code.
- Power on the TV with your programmed remote.
2. Entering a manual code
You can also pair and program your remote to work with Samsung TV by entering the pairing code manually. To do this:
- Turn on your Samsung TV.
- Press and hold the “Setup” button (or “Xfinity” and “Mute” buttons) on your Xfinity remote until the LED changes from red to green.
- Enter your four-digit or five-digit pairing code. You can use the Xfinity Remote Code Lookup tool to find the Samsung TV codes that work with your specific remote. You can also find more pairing codes in your remote’s manual.
- After entering the code, the LED light on your remote will blink green twice. When this happens, use your remote to power off your TV and complete the pairing process.
Note: The Remote Code Lookup tool and manual will have several pairing codes you can use, but some might not work. Therefore, if the first code you enter does not work, keep entering the other codes until one of them does.
3. Using voice commands
If your Xfinity remote has a voice feature, you can use voice commands to pair it to your Samsung TV. To do this:
- Turn on your Samsung TV.
- Connect your Xfinity box to your TV and select it as the input source.
- Press and hold the Voice (microphone) button on your remote and say, “Program remote.”
- You can also manually start the voice pairing process by going to Settings > Remote Settings > Voice remote pairing on your Xfinity box.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your remote with your Samsung TV.
Note: you will need a remote pairing code to complete the process. The correct code should be displayed on your TV during the pairing process, but you can also get other codes from the Xfinity Remote Code Lookup tool or your remote’s manual.
How to use your Xfinity remote to adjust the brightness on a Samsung TV
Once you have paired your remote, you can use it to control various features like power on/off, volume level, and brightness.
To adjust brightness on your Samsung TV using an Xfinity remote:

Note: Xfinity remotes are not 100% compatible with Samsung TVs. Therefore, you might be unable to control some features on your TV with your Xfinity remote (depending on your TV and remote models).
