Why you can’t access your Paramount Plus account

Are you having trouble accessing your Paramount Plus account? Find out how to fix this error.

Sometimes, you can experience problems accessing your account, which can occur due to corrupted cache data, an outdated browser or app, the use of a VPN, or other technical issues.

Fortunately, most of these issues are easy to fix. Below is a look at some of the top reasons you can’t access your Paramount Plus account and how to troubleshoot and fix the problem.

Simple troubleshooting tips

If you can’t access your Paramount+ account, first try the simple troubleshooting tips below:

  • Check that you have entered the correct username or password. Paramount Plus passwords are case-sensitive, so ensure the Caps Lock is off when signing in.
  • Check that you have a working internet connection. A slow connection or no internet can cause issues when logging in.
  • Check that Paramount Plus is online. The streaming service may be experiencing technical difficulties that are preventing successful login. You can use Downdetector.com (search for Paramount+) to check if the service is online.

If you are still having issues signing into your account, you can try the advanced solutions below:

1. Restart your browser or app session

One of the top reasons you cannot access your account is if there are minor glitches or bugs in your web browser or Paramount Plus app. Restarting your session on these platforms can help clear these issues, allowing you to sign in to your account.

If you are using a web browser, you can restart your session by exiting it, relaunching it, and trying to sign into your Paramount Plus account.

If you are using a mobile app, close it, relaunch it, and try signing into your account. Lastly, if you are using a streaming device, such as a Roku player, go back to the home screen, relaunch the Paramount Plus app/channel, and try signing into your account.

To do this:

  • Go to the Paramount Plus sign-in interface on a web browser or your streaming device.
  • Select the “Forgot Password” option and enter your Paramount Plus email address to receive a reset link.
  • To set up a new password, click on the password reset link in your email inbox and follow the on-screen instructions.
  • Go back to the sign-in interface and try logging into your account.

3. Clear cache and cookies

When using Paramount Plus, web browsers, apps, and streaming devices store cookies in a cache to provide a more seamless user experience. However, the cached data can sometimes become corrupted, causing issues when trying to access your account.

Clearing your cache will delete all cookies, including the ones that are corrupted or glitching, which can help resolve the problem:

If accessing Paramount Plus via a web browser:

  • Go to the menu or settings on the browser and select the option to clear browsing data.
  • Clear the cache, cookies, and history (for Safari browser on Mac computers).
  • Exit your browser, relaunch it, and try signing into your Paramount Plus account.

Besides clearing the cache and cookies, you can also try accessing Paramount Plus mode in your browser’s incognito mode. The mode does not store cookies, so you won’t have to worry about glitching or corrupted cached data.

Some connected devices, such as smart TVs and streaming boxes, might also have an option to clear the cache, which can help resolve any login issues you might be experiencing.

4. Update your browser or app

Another top reason you may have issues accessing your Paramount Plus account is an outdated browser or app. The browser or app could be missing some features or experiencing bugs that cause glitches when attempting to access your account.

Updating your browser and Paramount Plus app to the latest versions can help fix the issue and other problems, such as buffering and freezing.

If you cannot update the Paramount Plus app, you can delete it or uninstall it from your mobile phone or streaming device, then install the latest version from the app store.

5. Turn off your VPN or Proxy service

Are you using a VPN or proxy service with Paramount Plus? If so, this could be the reason you can’t access your account.

Paramount Plus regularly blocks VPNs, proxy services, and other third-party services that reroute internet traffic. The VPN and proxy restriction is designed to prevent users outside the available regions from accessing geo-blocked content.

However, even if you are in an allowed region, Paramount Plus can still flag your use of VPN and proxy as an attempt to bypass its geo-restrictions, thus leading to issues accessing your account.

Apart from VPN and proxy services, other third-party apps and services can interfere with using Paramount Plus, leading to issues when trying to access your account. These include:

  • Anti-virus software
  • Firewall services
  • Ad-blockers on your browser, PC, or mobile devices
  • Browser Extensions

Therefore, you should turn off all these third-party services one by one (starting with the VPN or proxy service) until you find the app/service that could be causing issues with your Paramount Plus access.

6. Switch to a different browser or device

Are you still having issues accessing your Paramount Plus account even after clearing your cookies, updating the browser or app, and turning off your third-party services? The problem could lie in your web browser or the device you are using.

In this case, you can try switching to another browser or streaming device to see if you can access your account.

If you cannot access your account after switching your browser or the streaming device, the problem could be with your account or on Paramount Plus’s server side.

7. Contact Paramount+ customer support

If none of the above solutions are working, it is time to contact the Paramount Plus customer support team. Customer support can offer you more advanced troubleshooting, which will help you detect and fix why you can’t access your account.

They can also help resolve account access issues outside your control, for example:

  • Technical issues on Paramount Plus’s server side
  • Your account may be restricted, suspended, or terminated due to too many login attempts, suspicious account activity, or violating Paramount Plus’s terms of service.
