Why Spectrum shows ‘Error RLP-1035: Program Unavailable’

Error RLP-1035: Program Unavailable on Spectrum usually indicates there is a problem with the specific channel or program you are trying to watch.

The error can occur due to various reasons, including service outages, network, hardware, software, and subscription issues. Other problems, such as loose coaxial cable or issues with the content filtering settings, could also cause it.

If you encounter error RLP-1035, the following troubleshooting guide can help you identify and resolve the issue.

Basic troubleshooting tips

The following simple tips can help you fix error RLP 1035, especially if the issue is temporary:

  • Check if you have a working internet connection: Internet connection issues can cause problems between your device and Spectrum’s servers.
  • Switch to a more stable network: If your Wi-Fi network is weak or unstable, switching to an Ethernet connection or a mobile data connection can help resolve the issue.
  • Check that you don’t have damaged cables: Loose or damaged coaxial cables can interfere with the signal from the Spectrum servers, causing error RLP-1035.
  • Wait and try again in a few minutes: Error RLP-1035 can be caused by temporary glitches or issues on Spectrum’s server side. Therefore, you might find that the error has resolved itself if you try again in a few minutes.
  • Try watching another channel or program: Watching another channel or program will help you determine if the issue is specific to this channel/program or affecting the entire Spectrum catalog.

If none of these tips work, you can try the following advanced solutions:

1. Verify your channel lineup

One of the first things you should do if you get the error RLP-1035: Program Unavailable is to verify your Spectrum channel lineup. This will help you determine if the channel or program you are trying to watch is included in your Spectrum package.

If the channel you are trying to access is not in the lineup, you will need to choose an alternative channel. However, if it is part of your package, you can move to more troubleshooting steps.

When reviewing your channel lineup, you should also check your account subscription status. After all, error RLP-1035 can also occur if your subscription has expired, thus making the channel unavailable for viewing.

2. Check your settings

Spectrum offers various filtering settings, including parental controls, that can help you restrict the channels and type of content that can be viewed via your account. Unfortunately, these restrictions can make certain channels or programs unavailable, resulting in error RLP-1035.

Therefore, before attempting any other fixes, review your filtering settings.

You can access the settings via your Spectrum app or by logging into your account on SpectrumTV.com. Check the parental controls that are enabled and make sure you have not blocked the channel or program you are trying to watch.

NOTE: Filtering settings and parental controls on other devices, such as your streaming device or Wi-Fi router, can also affect Spectrum availability.

Therefore, you also need to check other devices that could have parental controls or content filtering settings affecting Spectrum and deactivate them.

3. Confirm if there is an outage

A service outage is another top reason why you might be experiencing error RLP-1035 on Spectrum. Therefore, you should check for reported outages, especially if you are unable to watch other Spectrum channels and programs as well.

You can check for service outages via the Storm Centre on the Spectrum’s website. You should also enable push notifications updates on the Spectrum app, which can alert you if there are any reported outages in your area.
