Roku has been gradually adding free channels to its lineup
Roku has been regularly adding free channels to its streaming lineup. The latest addition comes just days after the platform introduced 34 new TV channels, dedicated to classic TV shows like Bones, Saturday Night Live, Saved by the Bell, My Wife & Kids, and more.
Likewise, in April, the streaming service added around 30 new channels to its lineup, while March saw its library grow by around 34 new live channels.
The regular channel additions mean a constant supply of fresh and free entertainment content, which is good news for many Roku users, especially families, students, or cord-cutters looking for affordable streaming alternatives.
The channel updates are also positioning Roku as a leading streaming service, especially in the free, ad-supported TV (FAST) sector.
According to Nielsen’s February 2026 Gauge report, Roku is the most popular free streaming service in the United States, with a 2.9% share of the overall streaming viewership.

These numbers put Roku ahead of its major competitor, Tubi, which has a streaming viewership share of 2.2%. Furthermore, the platform is even outperforming paid-streaming services like Paramount+ (2.1%).
We are likely to see Roku adding more free live channels to its lineup in the coming weeks, as the streaming service continues to improve its library for its growing user base.
Already, the platform’s reach has surpassed 100 million households. This number is likely to grow even further as more and more people ditch paid-streaming services for FAST alternatives.
