If you get a notification that you are outside your home area while streaming on PlayStation Vue or if the local channels have been replaced with those from another geographical location, then you need to update your home location. So how do you go about this?
No matter the device you are using, you can fix the PlayStation Vue location error using the Fix Your Location tool that is provided by PlayStation.
However, this method may not work always and that’s why we have provided additional ways to fix the issue.
5 ways to change your home location on PlayStation Vue
Method #1: Update your app
Sony has rolled out an update to enable viewers to stream PlayStation Vue content from anywhere in the USA. If your app is still giving you the location error, an update might solve the problem.
You will only be required to enter your zip code which is used to identify your home location. Note that you can only stream out of your home location for 59 days, after which you will get a notification that you need to sign in from your home area again.
Method #2: Using Fix Your Location
Fix Your Location is a tool that has been developed by PlayStation to help users correct location errors. You can use it from your computer or mobile device.
Requirements for using Fix Your Location
- A Wi-Fi connection.
- Disable your VPN
How to use Fix Your Location on PlayStation Vue
To change or reset your location on PlayStation Vue, open your browser on your computer or mobile device and follow these steps:
- Open PlayStation Vue on your browser and sign in to your account
- Click on your Account name, at the top-right corner, and select settings
- Go to Manage Subscription > Subscription Summary
- Click Fix Your Location and follow the prompts
Method #3: Connect to the main router
You are going to encounter the “location error” on your PS Vue if you are using a secondary router. The error occurs most likely because PS Vue detects the IP of the second device as a different location.
The easiest way to solve this error is by connecting your device to your primary router. Hotspots can also cause a similar error.
Method #4: Disable your VPN
Make sure that you have disabled your VPN before streaming local channels on PlayStation Vue. The device usually takes the new location on the VPN and displays content for that specific region.
By disabling your VPN, PS Vue will be able to detect your real location and provide the appropriate content.
Method #5: Contact PlayStation Vue support
If none of these fixes seems to work, get in touch with the PS support, either through their official website or social media.
