How to connect a Vizio soundbar to a TV without a remote

You can still connect your Vizio Soundbar to a TV without using a remote controller. I’ll explain the procedure in detail here.

Since the Vizio soundbar is an external sound system, it is not integrated to your TV. You have to connect it through the provided options in order to use it.

You can either connect your Vizio soundbar to your TV via Bluetooth, HDMI cable, SPDIF cable or RCA cable. But the procedure might be slightly different if you don’t have a remote.

Connect Vizio soundbar to your TV using HDMI cable

The process to connect your Vizio soundbar to your TV via HDMI cable is as follows;

• Find the HDMI cable that came with your soundbar.
• Connect one end of the HDMI cable onto the HDMI ARC port of your TV (found at the back). Then connect the other end of the HDMI at the output portal of your Vizio soundbar.

• Connect your Vizio soundbar to a power outlet.
• Turn on the Vizio soundbar and change the settings to HDMI using the soundbar’s Input button.
• Find the Input button on your TV (usually back left) and change the Input to HDMI 1. Wait for a few seconds.
• Your TV and the Vizio soundbar are now connected.

Connect the Vizio soundbar to your TV using RCA cable

You can also connect your Vizio soundbar to your TV as follows;

1. Connect one end of the RCA cables to the RCA port at the back of your TV. Similarly, connect the other end to the Audio Out port at the back of the Vizio soundbar.
2. Connect the soudbar to a power outlet using the power cable on the soundbar’s package.
3. Turn the soundbar on and then change the settings to AUX using the Input button on the soundbar.
4. Your TV and the Vizio soundbar are now connected. If you need to set your soundbar, you can use your Vizio remote to do so.

Connect the Vizio soundbar to your TV using SPDIF cable

Finally, you can connect the Vizio soundbar to your TV using the SPDF cable in this way;

1. Remove the protective caps found on both ends of the SPDIF caps.
2. Connect one end of the SPDIF cable to your Vizio soundbar port marked Optical. Then connect the other end of the cable to the SPDIF port at the back of your TV.
3. Plug the power cable to a power outlet and connect it to the Vizio soundbar.
4. Power on the Vizio soundbar and then change the settings to SPDIF using the Input button.
5. You have successfully connected your Vizio soundbar to your TV. You can now use the soundbar to control volume.

How to connect Vizio soundbar to your TV via Bluetooth

For this method, you will need to use a third-party remote app such as Viz – Smart TV remote control. Let’s set it up first.

• On your iPhone, download the Viz-Smart TV remote control app from the App Store. You can search for an equivalent app on the Play Store if you are using an Android phone.

• Launch the app, select a remote that corresponds to your previous remote by tapping on it.
• Tap OK on the pop up that appears. Make sure your TV is on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.
• Select your TV from the list of devices.
• Type the numbers that appear on your TV screen.

You can now control your TV right from your phone using the virtual remote.

Now that you’ve connected the virtual remote, follow these steps to connect Vizio soundbar to your TV using Bluetooth.

1. Connect the Vizio soundbar to a power outlet using the power cable that came with it.
2. Power on the Vizio soundbar and then turn on its Bluetooth. Your soundbar should start searching for pairing devices.
3. Power on your TV.
4. Press the Home button on the virtual remote to access the Menu.
5. Scroll to Settings then select Network & Accessories.
6. Scroll to Bluetooth Settings, then toggle it ON.
7. Give it a minute for your Vizio soundbar to pair with your TV through Bluetooth.
8. Confirm the connection and allow your TV and Vizio soundbar to pair. You should see a blue light in some Vizio soundbars.

Your TV is now connected to your soundbar. Play anything on your TV to see if the connection was successful.

If you can’t hear audio, confirm if the cables are correctly connected. Ensure that your soundbar is connected to the right input port. The front lights should flash to show that soundbar is cycling around all the inputs.
