Sister Wives is a reality show on TLC that documents the life of the polygamist family of Kody Brown, his wives Robyn, Meri, Janelle, and Christine, and their 18 children.
However, as of this year, Kody Brown had only one wife, Robyn, after Christine, Janelle, and Meri Brown divorced him in 2021, 2022, and 2023, respectively.
Who is Audrey?
Audrey Kiss is the long-term partner of Leon Brown, formerly Mariah Brown, the only child of Meri Brown with ex-husband Kody Brown.
An episode of Sister Wives that aired in 2017 showed Leon coming out as gay to Kody, Meri, Christine, Janelle Brown, and Robyn Brown.
Audrey’s Coming Out Journey
In December 2021, Audrey took to Instagram to share an important milestone in their life, announcing that they are transgender and using they/them pronouns.
They expressed feeling both excitement and anxiety about publicly sharing this aspect of their identity, acknowledging the challenges and fears that many transgender people face when coming out.
They also decided to keep the name Audrey even as they transitioned.
Support from Leon
Leon Brown, Audrey’s partner, is also a member of the LGBTQ+ community. In June 2022, Leon came out as transgender and non-binary, revealing that they use they/them pronouns as well.
The couple got together at Westminister College, where they were both students. Leon and their partner, Audrey Kriss, married on October 29, 2022, after getting engaged in January 2019 at the Women’s March in Washington, D.C.
Audrey and Leon have publicly supported each other through their journeys of gender identity and self-discovery.
Top Surgery Update
Kriss openly shared their journey of undergoing top surgery, an important and affirming step for many transgender individuals.
In an Instagram post over Labor Day weekend, Audrey was cooling off in a pool, shirtless, after a successful top surgery. They were also wearing swimming trunks comfortable in their new look.
The post marked Audrey’s first anniversary since their surgery. Audrey described the experience as empowering and transformative, acknowledging its positive impact on their mental health and sense of self.
The Sister Wives Family’s Response
The Brown family, particularly Leon’s mother, Meri Brown, has supported Leon’s coming out and Audrey’s transition.
Meri has publicly expressed her love for Leon and respect for their identity. However, Sister Wives as a show has not heavily focused on their journeys, likely out of respect for their privacy.
Life beyond the show
Leon and Audrey are focusing on living authentically and continuing their respective transitions.
Audrey has shared glimpses of their life post-coming out, often using social media to document their journey, share resources, and promote inclusivity.
