TF1+ streaming app: 5 must-know facts before you download

Launched on Jan 8, 2024, TF1+ is France’s first completely free streaming platform. It offers thousands of hours of TF1 network shows, movies, and live channels at no cost, and a premium ad-free option.

The platform bundles popular content, from French dramas and reality shows to kids’ cartoons, into one app. You get 30,000+ hours of TV series, films, and entertainment for free.

Below are the five key things you need to know about TF1+ before you download it.

1. Subscription plans and pricing

You can use TF1+ for free. The standard TF1+ service is entirely free but with ads.

If ads aren’t your thing, you can subscribe to TF1+ Premium, which costs €5.99 per month or €59.99 per year. Premium subscribers enjoy the same content without commercial breaks, plus extras like up to 2 episodes early of daily shows, a start-over (rewind) feature on live TV, and full HD streaming.

You can also try Premium risk‑free using a 7-day free trial before you commit.

2. Availability

TF1+ is targeted at French-speaking audiences. It launched in France in January 2024 as the country’s first free AVoD platform.

Since then, it’s been extended to neighbouring French-speaking markets and beyond. TF1+ now serves Belgium, Luxembourg, and French-speaking Switzerland.

TF1+ might also be expanded into 22 French-speaking countries in Africa. The expansion includes countries such as Ivory Coast, Senegal, Cameroon, and Burkina Faso, aiming to become the leading entertainment platform in these regions.

3. Compatible devices and platforms

TF1+ works on any device that you have. It is also pre‐integrated into many French set‐top boxes and TV ecosystems.

You can watch TF1+ on the following gadgets:

  • Mobile and tablet: iOS and Android apps found in the App Store and Play Store.
  • PC and Mac: Any web browser via the TF1+ website. You’ll need to create an account, though.
  • Smart TVs: Most Smart TV models from Samsung, TCL, Vitron, LG, Philips, Hisense, and so on are compatible. Any Android TV or Google TV gadgets are also compatible.
  • TV boxes and players: In France, Orange, Bouygues, and SFR boxes come with the app pre-installed. Streaming devices, such as Amazon Fire TV and Apple TV, are also supported. You can also Chromecast from your mobile to any TV that supports the technology.

Note that TF1+ doesn’t currently support PlayStation or Xbox apps. But between your phone, computer, and smart TV, you’ve got plenty of ways to stream TF1+ content.

4. Live channels and on-demand library

TF1+ combines live TV and video-on-demand.

For on-demand viewing, TF1+ has an extensive library that includes:

  • TV series: Hundreds of episodes from French hits like “HPI,” “Sam,” “Demain nous appartient,” and so on. There are also international series like “Grey’s Anatomy” or “Vampire Diaries.”
  • Films: Over 200 movies are available for streaming. These span genres from action and fantasy to family and holiday films.
  • Entertainment and reality: You will find entire seasons of popular TF1 shows like “The Voice,” “Koh-Lanta” (Survivor France), “Star Academy,” “Secret Story,” and many more. There are also talent shows, game shows, and talk shows to watch.
  • News and documentaries: Full episodes of TF1’s news magazines like
“Sept à Huit” and “90’ Enquêtes” are available. There are also daily news bulletins and a special news feature, “Top Info,” with 3 to 6 minute video reports each day.
  • Kids and family: Cartoons and kids’ series like “Miraculous,” “Paw Patrol,” “Naruto,” “Hunter × Hunter,” “Barbapapa,” etc.. There’s a rich library of children’s and teen programming from around 50 brands to keep younger viewers happy.
  • Sports highlights: Major sports events, such as UEFA Euro and Champions League highlights, are shown if streamed through TF1’s sports coverage. There are also specialised highlight reels created by TF1’s “Top Chrono” feature. These include 5, 10, or 15-minute summarised recaps of a match.

For live content, they have the following:

  • Live Channels (5): TF1, TMC, TFX, TF1 Séries Films, LCI (all live and replay).
  • Partner channels: Selected live programs from ARTE, L’Équipe, Le Figaro TV.
  • FAST Channels: Over 50 themed channels in romance, comedy, anime, sports, holidays, etc..

5. Special features and technology

TF1+ introduces some unique features to improve your viewing. They include:

  • Top Info: Short daily news videos. Instead of full newscasts, TF1+ offers five concise 3–6 minute segments each day, giving information on the day’s top stories. This lets you catch up on headlines quickly.
  • Top Chrono: An AI-powered sports highlight creator. You choose how much time you have, and TF1’s “Top Chrono” AI engine will compile the goals and key moments. This was first used during the Rugby World Cup and is now a regular feature.
  • Synchro (co-viewing engine): If you’re watching together with friends or family, Synchro analyses each person’s profile to find shows likely to appeal to everyone. This cuts out the endless scroll. It even lets multiple people resume a program from where they left off if they switch devices.
  • Extended catch-up: Unlike the old MyTF1 platform, which kept shows for 7 days, TF1+ retains the rights to programs for much longer. Some shows and films stay available for 30 days or more. Certain content is on TF1+ for up to 48 months. This means you have a lot more time to watch before anything expires.
  • Premium perks: The paid plan includes features such as full HD streaming, the ability to start a live program from the beginning (start over), and playing episodes up to 2 days ahead for daily series.
