Here’s how Fandango At Home actually works

Fandango At Home lets you rent or buy movies and TV shows. You could also watch some titles here for free, but with ads.

This platform is only available in the United States and Puerto Rico.

It has support for smart TVs and other streaming devices like smart boxes. You can also watch from phones, computers, and game consoles.

How Fandango At Home works

Here is how everything works on this service:

1. You pay only for what you watch

Start by visiting Fandango At Home and creating an account. There is no monthly fee or recurring subscription for you to cancel later.

Once signed in, search for a movie or TV show. Each title will have its own viewing options and prices.

For example, a movie might cost $3.99 to rent. To buy the same title, you might need about $12.99. New digital releases often cost more if they are not yet available to rent.

2. Renting gives you a limited viewing period

Renting is your go-to option when you only intend to watch a movie once. After you pay the rental amount, it appears in your account, ready to play.

Many digital title rentals will give you up to 30 days to start watching. Once you do begin playing the title, you have 24 or 48 hours to finish. Such periods vary by title, so check the terms displayed before checkout.

3. Buying adds titles to your digital library

Select Buy if you expect to watch a title more than once. Your purchases will appear under My Library. Here is where you return to stream them again without paying for each viewing.

There is one essential difference between buying on this platform and owning a DVD. Here, you get a viewing license. This is not similar to an unrestricted video file like a DVD or USB file. Hence, your access depends on its agreements with studios and other rights holders.

Some of your purchases could also support offline downloads on certain devices. This is useful when travelling or when you will be watching somewhere without reliable internet.

4. Free section has movies and TV shows with ads

Not everything requires payment. Fandango has a separate Stream Free library with full movies and TV episodes.

The selection here includes older Hollywood movies and independent films mostly. You will also get classic television, old reality shows, and other licensed titles. You will see commercial breaks during playback.

To identify these titles, look for the Free to Watch label when browsing. Some of these free titles also offer paid rental or purchase options.

5. You could connect eligible purchases from other platforms

One of the best features you ought to use on this platform is its support for Movies Anywhere.

This is useful if you buy movies from Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, or Google Play/YouTube. You could bring most of your purchased titles together by linking your retailer accounts to Movies Anywhere.

Here’s how it works:

  • Go to the official site and create a free Movies Anywhere account.
  • Open Connect Digital Retailers.
  • Select Fandango and sign in.
  • Once done, connect your other accounts where you have purchased titles.

Our Movies Anywhere review explains which purchases transfer and where the system falls short.
