Sling TV error codes – Complete list & troubleshooting guide

Sling TV displays many error codes or messages anytime the service encounters a problem. Most of these errors result from poor communication between the streaming device and Sling TV servers.

The advantage is that most Sling TV error codes have a solution. For example, when you see Sling TV error code 1-2, it means there is a bug in your device or app.

You can fix the error by re-launching the app, re-launching the channel, or restarting your device. Here are more Sling TV error codes on Roku and other devices and how to fix or troubleshoot them.

1. 2-0 – Server issue

Error 2-0 is a server issue. It happens when your device cannot communicate with Sling TV servers or servers experiencing downtime.

  • Close Sling TV and try again.
  • Check your internet connection and try again.

You can also wait until Sling TV fixes the issue.

2. 2-63 – Configuration issue

You get error 2-63 on Sling TV when there is a configuration issue. Here is how to handle it:

  • Close and re-launch the Sling app on your device.
  • Check your internet connection, especially if you are using Wi-Fi.
  • Clear the cache of the Sling TV app. You can exit the Sling TV app and launch the Menu to clear the cache or go to device or browser settings and clear the data.
  • Restart your device.
  • Reinstall the Sling TV app on your device.

3. 2-502 – Device specific

Error 2-502 mostly occurs on the Roku device. Users on Reddit who have experienced this error explained they could not open the app on their Roku device.

Here is how to proceed.

  • Restart your Roku device and try again.
  • Update the Sling TV channel on your Roku device.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the Sling TV channel on your Roku device.

If you have the Sling Orange plan, use the ESPN app with Sling login to watch content.

4. 3-45 – Information error

When an error begins with 3- on Sling TV, it means there is a problem with the information exchange between the streaming device and the Sling TV system. Try the following:

  • Check your internet connection and ensure you have a speed of 3Mbps or higher.
  • Reinstall the Sling app and try again.

You can also restart your streaming and internet devices and try again.

5. 3-54 – Information error

When your Sling TV is not working, you will get error 3-54. Troubleshoot it by doing the following:

  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection and your speed is at least 3Mbps.
  • Restart the Sling TV app and try again.
  • Clear the app cache and browser cookies from your mobile device.
  • Check for app updates.

6. 4-330 – Server issue

Error code 4-330 occurs when the Sling TV servers cannot send data to your device. You can do the following to fix it:

  • Re-launch the channel by reselecting it from the guide menu.
  • Change to a different channel and then change back to your original selection.
  • Close the app, reopen it, and try again.
  • Restart your streaming and internet devices. Ensure that you switch them off for 30 seconds before opening Sling TV and trying again.
  • Ensure you have a stable internet connection.

You can also uninstall and reinstall the sling app to see if it will fix the issue.

7. 4-332 – Data breakdown

Error 4-332 occurs when there is a breakdown in the data from Sling servers to your device. Try the following to resolve the issue:

  • Ensure you have the latest version of the Sling TV app.
  • Reinstall the Sling TV app and try again.
  • Re-launch the Sling TV app.

You can also clear the cache on your device or browser.

8. 4-402 – Software issue

Error 4-402 on Sling TV occurs when there is a bug in the software that causes the content to play incorrectly. Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Close and reopen the app to establish a new connection.
  • Change to a different channel and see if you get the error.
  • Try watching a TV show or movie with your channel’s Video On-Demand selection.
  • Update the Sling TV app.

You can also uninstall and reinstall the app to fix the bug.

9. 4-413 – Network issue

You get error 4-413 when Sling TV is temporarily unable to load video. The error occurs because of a network issue.

Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Reset your internet or network devices and try again.
  • Disable your VPN and use the ISP’s IP address.
  • Limit the number of devices using the same network to increase the bandwidth.
  • Check your internet speed to ensure it is at least 3Mbps.

Check with your ISP to see if they have an internet or network issue.

10. 5-102 – Content issue

Error 5-102 occurs when Sling TV fails to load content or the content you want to watch is unavailable.

To fix the issue, try the following:

  • Re-launch the app and try again.
  • Check if the content you want is available to you or your region.
  • Change to a different channel.

The error may be temporary, and the content you want to watch becomes available again.

11. 5-419 – Streaming issue

You will encounter code 5-419 when your Sling TV app receives an error with the stream the service tries to load and play on your screen.

In most cases, the error resolves itself after a minute or so. But if it does not, you can try the following to fix it:

  • Close the channel and open it again.
  • Change to a different channel and return to the channel you were on before the error occurred.
  • Restart your device and try again.
  • Close the Sling TV app and try again.

You can also check your internet connection to ensure it is stable enough to download data from Sling servers.

12. 6-9 – Server or video content issue

Error code 6-9 on Sling TV signifies a server problem. It can also occur if there is a problem with the video content on the server. Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Try again after a few minutes.
  • Restart your device.
  • Open Sling TV on another device and see if the error clears.

If it works on another device, you should update the Sling TV app or the device you saw the error on.

But if it fails to work on a different device, contact Sling support services for assistance.

13. 6-502 – Server problem

Error 6-502 is a server problem on Sling TV’s side. Here is what to do:

  • Restart the Sling TV app to resolve temporary glitches.
  • Update the Sling TV app.
  • Reinstall the app.
  • Clear the app cache and browser data.

Consider waiting until Sling TV fixes the problem.

14. 6-402 – Expired content

Sling TV error 6-402 occurs when viewing blacked-out, expired, or unavailable content.

The error appears when watching content on a smartphone or tablet, watching sports, or watching DVR or On-Demand (VOD) content. Here is what to do:

  • If you get the error while watching on a smartphone or tablet, enable location services. But if the error occurs after enabling location services, the program you accessed is unavailable on mobile devices or is blacked out. Therefore, access the program on a TV or browser.
  • If you get the error while streaming sports, especially an NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB game, you have no access to the game, or the game is blacked out on the channel. Therefore, check other available channels for the game.

If the error occurs when viewing DVR content or a Video-On-Demand program, the program has expired or is unavailable.

15. 6-671 – Channel specific

Error 6-671 occurs when watching a specific channel. To troubleshoot it, try re-launching the channel.

Alternatively, change to a different channel and return to the original selection. The channel could also be unavailable in your region.

16. 7-403 – Browser issue

Error 7-403 occurs on most browsers. You will encounter the error when watching live sports and during the commercial break. Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Turn off the ad blocker on your browser.
  • Open Sling TV on an incognito tab.
  • Try a different browser.
  • Clear browser data and cookies.
  • Disable the Shield on the Brave browser.

You can also turn off blocking trackers and see if Sling TV works again.

17. 7-600 – Location issue

You get error 7-600 when watching live content. It occurs if the live content is unavailable to you in your location or if the content is blacked out.

Also, you will get this error if you have traveled outside the United States or the market.

If the error occurred by mistake, enable location services on your device and try again.

Also, if you are in an area where the program cannot stream, you’ll have to check when in an area where there’s Sling TV coverage.

18. 8-12 – Authorization error

Error code 8-12 on Sling TV is an authorization error. It may occur because of the content you are currently watching or an issue with your streaming device. Try the following:

  • If the error occurs while watching a specific channel or show, it means the programming is available for a free preview and not premium. Therefore, you do not have access to that content. Open a different channel and try again.
  • The error may also be device-specific. You can fix it by updating the app or browser on your device, signing out and back into the Sling app, or restarting your device.

The error is also similar to 8-701 or 17-753 on Apple devices.

19. 8-20 – Technical issue

You will get error 8-20 when Sling TV cannot fetch a video from its servers to your device. Troubleshoot it by re-launching or reinstalling the app.

Also, try closing and opening the app or changing to another channel and returning to your selected channel.

20. 8-270 – System issue

Error 8-270 occurs when Sling TV systems fail to get the right information from your device. The error usually resolves itself within 24 hours. However, other fixes include:

  • Re-launch the app or channel and try again.
  • Open the Sling TV on a different device.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app.

You can also restart your device to refresh connections and establish a new connection to the Sling TV servers.

21. 8-702 – App issue

Error 8-702 is device-specific, especially Apple devices. The error occurs because your device has not installed the latest Sling TV app update.

Fix this error by manually updating the Sling TV app on your device. Alternatively, uninstall and reinstall the app or restart your device and try again.

22. 8-1541 – Unknown error

Error 8-1514 is an error that Sling TV is researching more on. Its cause is unknown. But if you encounter the error, Sling TV recommends the following:

  • Ensure your device has the latest operating system or update the OS.
  • Ensure your device has the latest version of the Sling TV app.
  • Connect to a Wi-Fi network instead of a cellular data connection.

If the error persists, please contact Sling support services for further assistance. Also, contact Sling TV when you see error code 19-6, another unknown error.

23. 9-0 – Account personalization error

Error 9-0 is an account personalization error. It occurs when account personalization services prevent videos from Sling servers from reaching your device.

Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Try again after a few minutes.
  • Check your location and try again.
  • Disable VPN.
  • Close and re-open the channel.

Try restarting your device to see if it works.

24. 9-400 – Account issue

Error 9-400 occurs on Roku devices. Some users have reported encountering the issue whenever they log into their TVs. The login page becomes blank whenever they sign in.

Try again after a few minutes to see if the error fixes itself. Also, ensure you have entered the correct login details. Check your internet connection to ensure it is stable, and try again.

Finally, uninstall the channel from your Roku device and reinstall it to see if it fixes the issue.  

25. 9-802 – Device specific

Error 9-802 is specific to Amazon Fire Stick devices. You will get the error because of compatibility issues. Therefore:

  • Update Sling TV on your Fire Stick and try again.
  • Reinstall the app.
  • Ensure the Sling TV app is compatible with your Fire Stick.
  • Open Sling TV on another device. If it works, your Fire Stick device has an issue.

You can also update your Fire Stick operating system and try again.

26. 10-3 – Network connectivity or streaming issue

Error code 10-3 on Sling TV usually indicates network connectivity or streaming issues and occurs on all devices. Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Check your internet connection by ensuring you have connected your device to the internet and that your internet connection is stable.
  • Reset your modem or router to see if that improves your connection.
  • Restart your device to refresh the network connection.
  • Use Wi-Fi instead of mobile data and vice versa.

Error code 10-3 can also occur if there is an issue with Sling TV servers. In that case, please wait until Sling resolves the issue.

27. 10-51 – Technical error

Most errors starting with 10- are technical errors. You can troubleshoot them by re-launching the channel and selecting it from the guide menu.

Also, consider restarting your device, reinstalling the app, or signing in and out of the app and trying again.

28. 10-100 – Login issue

You will encounter error code 10-100 on Sling TV when logging in to the Sling TV app. The server will trigger the error that your login credentials are problematic or cannot be authenticated.

Troubleshoot as follows:

  • Check your login credentials and try again.
  • Check that you do not have an active account on the same browser.
  • Clear app cache and data.
  • Clear browser data and cookies.
  • Uninstall and reinstall the app.

You can also re-launch the app to allow you to log in anew. If you get the error on your iPhone, try logging into Sling on Safari, and then it will ask you to switch to the app, ultimately fixing the issue.

29. 10-101 – Authentication error

Error 10-101 is an authentication error. It occurs when you try to log in to your Sling account.

Please check that you have entered the correct login details and try again. Also, try clearing the app and browser cache and trying again.

30. 10-403 – Unauthorized content

You get error 10-403 when accessing unauthorized content. Try the following to fix it:

  • Log out and log back into your account.
  • Check to ensure you have the right subscription to access the content.
  • Try another channel. The content may be unavailable.
  • Enable location services on your device.

You can also restart your device and open Sling again. The issue may be temporary and can be fixed after logging back in.

31. 11-6 – Location error

Error 11-6 occurs when Sling TV cannot determine your location. It happens when streaming from outside the US or Puerto Rico, where the services are only available.

But if you are inside these countries and you get the error:

  • Turn off your VPN.
  • Enable location services on your mobile device.
  • Use another ISP to stream.
  • Change the channel and see if you get the error.

If you are in an area where the programming cannot stream, you will encounter the error 11-6. Also, this error will occur if you recently changed routers.

In addition to error 11-6, you will also encounter error 11-100 if Sling TV cannot verify your location.

32. 11-7 – Channels issue

You will encounter the error 11-7 when Sling TV is not getting local or premium channels. The error is common on the Roku device. Here is what to do:

  • Check your internet connection and try again.
  • You must be in the United States or Puerto Rico to access Sling TV.
  • Disable your VPN and try again.
  • Ensure the channel you are looking for is included in your subscription.
  • Close and reopen the channels app on your Roku device.

Also, if you do not see a specific channel in your guide, ensure you have no active filters.

When filtered, your guide only presents channels relating to a theme like Sports or Lifestyle.

33. 13-1 – Device issue

When you get error 13-1, it means too many people are streaming using the same account.

Therefore, you must reduce the number of people accessing the account and try again. Here’s a guide for logging everyone out of a Sling TV account.

You can get only three streams simultaneously if you subscribe to Sling Blue, Sling Latino, or Sling International Base services. Any Extras you add to your Sling Blue service will be included in your three streams.

However, if you have Sling Blue + Orange, you will get three streams for Blue and one for Orange. The error occurs when streaming specific sports channels.

Many users have realized that you can only stream one sports channel at a time, regardless of your payment plan. 

34. 14-0 – Connectivity error

Error code 14-0 occurs because of a connectivity issue. You’ll encounter it when there is a miscommunication between systems or internet connectivity.

  • Check your internet connection to ensure it is stable and strong enough to stream video content.
  • Close and reopen the channel from the guide menu.
  • Change to a different channel and then change back to your original channel.
  • Clear the cache and data of the Sling TV app on your device.
  • Update the Sling TV app to the latest version.
  • Restart your streaming device.

You can also uninstall the Sling TV app from your device, reinstall it, and try again.

35. 16-453 – Device specific

Error 16-453 is specific to the AirTV device. It occurs when AirTV loses power or connection to the internet or fails to recognize the storage device.

  • Ensure you have plugged the AirTV device into a power outlet and the indicator light is green.
  • Ensure your AirTV has a stable connection to the internet.
  • Remove AirTV from your Sling account and set it up afresh. That includes hard resetting the device.
  • Ensure AirTV runs on the latest software.
  • Check the internal hard drive to ensure you can record a video.
  • Use a new external hard drive or DVR for your AirTV.

36. 19-2 – Subscription error

When error 19-2 occurs, you will see the message – you are not subscribed to any channel. You can resolve it by doing the following:

  • Log out and log back into your account.
  • Restart your device and try again.

You should also check your Sling TV subscription to ensure you have the right subscription to access the content.

37. 21-51 – Programming error

Error 21-51 on Sling TV occurs when making a programming change or attempting to record a show. Troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Update the app.
  • Restart your device.
  • Close and reopen the Sling TV app.
  • Reinstall the app.

You can also move the Sling app on your device app ribbon.

38. 22-29 – Playback failure

When you get the error code 22-29, it signifies a playback issue. The error occurs because of an unexpected interruption in streaming data.

You can troubleshoot it as follows:

  • Update the Sling TV app on your device by going to the application store.
  • Clear app or browser cache.
  • Open and close the Sling TV app and try again.
  • Restarting your streaming device.

You can also uninstall and reinstall the Sling TV app and try again.

39. 27-1 – Internet issue

When you have a problem with Sling TV showing an error message 27-1, the source is an internet issue.

Ideally, error 27-1 occurs when a video has too much buffering. Also, an account authorization issue could be the source of the problem.

You will notice this error when an orange wheel spins continuously on the screen. The error also occurs when you see a black screen.

Troubleshoot this error as follows:

  • Re-launch the channel you are watching by returning to the guide menu and selecting it.
  • Change to a different channel and then change back to your original channel.
  • If the issue occurs on all channels, watch a TV show or movie available with your channel’s Video On-Demand selection.
  • If the above steps are unsuccessful, restart your device and try again.
  • Reset your internet connection by unplugging the device power cord for 10-30 seconds, plugging it back in, and re-launching Sling TV.
  • You can also restart your wireless internet connection or unplug the Ethernet cable from your streaming device.
  • Disconnect and connect again if you use mobile data through an internet hotspot.
  • Contact your ISP for further assistance.

If you have a VPN, disconnect the service and connect using your ISP’s IP address to see any changes. Additionally, turn off any ad-blockers you may be using.

40. 27-7 – Freeview error

Error 27-7 occurs when accessing Sling TV’s Freeview content.

While Sling TV lets subscribers preview premium channels for free every weekend, you may access an already unavailable channel or program.

Also, your subscription may have expired or is in a tier not supported by Freeview.

41. 28-29 and 28-30 – VOD error

Sling TV errors 28-29 and 28-30 occur when watching Video-On-Demand content. You will encounter it when watching a specific show on demand.

These errors can also occur if the content you want to watch is unavailable.

42. 28-60 – Connectivity issue

Check your connection anytime you encounter error 28-60. That is because your streaming device is not communicating well with Sling servers.

Also, ensure you have the latest version of Sling TV. Alternatively, uninstall and reinstall the app and try again.

43. 29-102 – Buffering issue

You will encounter the error 29-102 when Sling TV keeps buffering. You can fix this by checking your internet connection and ensuring it is stable.

Also, ensure you have an internet speed of at least 3Mbps.
