Turbo, whose real name is Peter Teatoff, remains one of the most memorable personalities from Discovery Channel’s Outback Truckers.
Since its debut in 2012, the Australian series has followed long-haul truck drivers as they tackle the world’s most remote and harshest roads, delivering everything from heavy machinery to livestock.

Turbo’s no-nonsense attitude, larger-than-life personality, and unfiltered sense of humour made him a standout presence on Outback Truckers.
The rise of Turbo on Outback Truckers
Turbo first appeared on Outback Truckers and quickly became one of the show’s most recognised stars.
Turbo was a hard-working truck driver with decades of experience carrying heavy loads across Australia. He wasn’t just a TV personality.
Fans of Outback Truckers were drawn to his professionalism and sense of humor, even when dealing with dangerous dirt trucks, weather disasters, and mechanical breakdowns that would make most drivers turn back.
Turbo’s life after Outback Truckers
Turbo has continued trucking on Australia’s outback roads and has not pursued additional television work.
According to an Instagram post in June 2024, Turbo was seen bogged down in Braidwood, a small New South Wales town, confirming his continued activity in the trucking world.
“Where’s Turbo from Outback Truckers now?! Well, last week of all places, he was bogged in Braidwood. I got a call from a property owner late one night needing a hand with a bogged truck that was delivering them a little tractor. To my surprise the next morning, it’s Turbo,” the user revealed.
“We’ve done a fair few recoveries before, but this will be hard to top. And yes, he was exactly the same as in the show. We could’ve easily filmed an episode last vid for context if you haven’t seen the show,” the user added.
Video highlights and fan posts through 2025 show him struggling with ongoing cross-country hauls, mechanical breakdowns, overloaded trailers, and unpaid debts, situations familiar to fans of his Ouback Truckers TV personality.
Turbo’s financial pressures

Turbo’s business continues to experience financial stress.
According to recent episodes and online clips, there have been reports of contract disputes, mounting repair bills, and angry customers demanding payment for damaged cargo or unfinished hauls.
In May 2025, Turbo faced a one-month deadline to pay back a customer after a delivery dispute, and mechanical issues with his truck—such as faulty oil pressure and potentially catastrophic engine failures—are recurring themes that threaten both his livelihood and safety.
Why Turbo left Ouback Truckers
Outback Truckers has featured dozens of drivers over its many seasons, and the rotation of cast members is one reason the show has remained fresh.
While Outback Truckers remains popular, recent promotional materials for upcoming seasons mention other stars and newcomers but do not feature Turbo as a main cast member.
Turbo’s departure, while never officially explained, seems to have been a personal choice.
