According to Richard, coping with this high-stress environment required not just strategy, but also inner peace and mental fortitude.

The isolation from the outside world, combined with the unpredictability of relationships in the house, posed significant emotional tests.

Richard turned to reading the Psalms regularly, finding in those ancient songs and prayers a source of hope and calm.

Speaking to Premiere Christianity magazine on December 1, 2025, Richard revealed that the book of Psalms helped him process his feelings authentically.

He stated that verses about protection, finding peace in turmoil, and  God’s presence  resonated with his mindset as he navigated the challenges of the

Richard described how specific verses reminded him he was not alone, even in moments of doubt or confrontation.

“That was just what I needed right then. I wasn’t losing sleep over all these things that were being said, but it was so reassuring to know that there’s someone there with you who’s able to control everything much more effectively than I could do myself.”

Richard revealed that he used the Psalms as a cognitive tool to reframe his experience positively. He also found spiritual comfort in the scriptures.

Reading scripture fostered patience and encouraged forgiveness during conflicts. It also instilled a sense of purpose beyond the competition itself.

This helped him stay grounded rather than getting lost in temporary frustrations or setbacks within the game.

Moreover, this connection to faith brought discipline and calm. It improved his interpersonal relations with other housemates on the show.

Richard’s grounding in Psalms helped him maintain composure and perspective during uncertainty and flaring tempers. This contributed to his endurance throughout the ordeal.

“Tate, the Scottish fellow who was in there with me, was the most interested and began to ask me questions. Sometimes, I would get scriptures that seemed suited for him, and I’d say, ‘Listen, have a look at this one,’” he revealed.

“He was reading those, and that was touching him. He, by his own admission, isn’t even a Christian yet,” he added.

“He’s just interested to explore it and read what it’s all about. So, that really was getting through to him, and we’ve been in touch many times since we both left the house.”

Richard’s stance on Christians joining Big Brother

However, Richard discouraged other Christians from joining the show, citing unwholesome and unedifying things that he tried to balance.

“I don’t know that I could ever, in good conscience, advise anyone to do such a thing, because they do contain a lot of unwholesome things,” he said.

However, he advised those Christians wishing to join the show to pray first and seek wise counsel from their pastor, church friends, and the vicar.

“Get some wisdom on it first before you go for it. And if the consensus is, give it a try, then yes, do go for it.”
