What happened to Cozi TV? Latest developments and future of the NBC-owned TV network

Cozi TV, a staple for classic TV reruns since 2013, often sparks fan worries about its future whenever carriage disruptions or lineup changes occur.

Despite recent disruptions—such as Dish Network dropping Cozi TV in 2024 and temporary local blackouts—the network is not shutting down.

These disruptions are simply Cozi TV’s adjustment to industry shifts and not any sign that the network is closing.

So, what actually happened to Cozi TV?

As of October 2025, Cozi TV remains robust. It has fresh programming acquisitions that keep its 24/7 lineup vibrant.

Cozi TV has faced the same problems as other cable channels: fewer people paying for cable, changes that require viewers to rescan their TVs, and tough competition from big streaming services like Netflix and Peacock.

Still, under NBCUniversal Local’s leadership, it has done well by focusing on shows that make people feel comfortable.

A quick history of Cozi TV

Cozi TV started in 2009 as NBC Nonstop, a mix of local news and lifestyle shows on extra NBC channels. By 2011, NBC combined these into one national channel, mixing new shows like Talk Stoop with classic reruns to keep viewers who were leaving regular TV.

Cozi TV underwent a significant overhaul in January 2013, dropping lifestyle shows to focus on popular NBCUniversal TV shows from the 1950s to the 2000s, like Magnum, P.I., and Murder, She Wrote.

Because of this change, Cozi TV went from being in 43 areas when it started to 145 by 2023. It reached 109 million homes through partners like Nexstar and Gray Television.

The network found success by airing comedy shows in the evening that attract older viewers who want something familiar, rather than the many streaming choices.

What are the latest developments on Cozi TV?

Jump to 2024-2025, and Cozi TV has made careful updates, even with a few minor problems. The biggest successes are getting new shows to boost ratings.

In August 2024, they got Married… with Children and The King of Queens from Sony Pictures Television, starting with a 16-episode marathon of Married… with Children that was very popular with viewers aged 35 to 64.

But 2025 brought even more exciting new shows. On August 27, Cozi TV announced George Lopez, a Warner Bros. comedy about a Latino family and funny work situations.

It started with a 16-hour Labor Day marathon on September 1, from 8 a.m. to midnight ET, then became a regular show along with The Nanny and Frasier.

By fall 2025, the schedule had changed. On September 1, George Lopez aired in the mornings, moving Frasier reruns into the time slots that used to have Little House on the Prairie. This change, announced on August 25, made some fans upset on social media.

Talking about shows being removed, that is when the “what happened?” rumors start. Little House, which had been airing on weekdays since 2016, was taken off the schedule to make space for newer comedies.

Cozi’s Instagram said, “All three are truly great series we loved showcasing. If it’s any solace, we’ll miss them, too!” (They also removed two other shows, but Lopez took their place).

What makes Cozi TV tick?

Cozi TV is popular because it is simple and easy to use. It is the opposite of streaming services, free and easy for people who use antennas instead of cable.

The network carries a deep selection of 1950s-2000s shows, heavy on NBCUniversal staples like Columbo and Highway to Heaven.

Drama lovers enjoy Monk and Bones, while comedy fans have plenty of options, all without endless scrolling.

Cozi TV is easy to get. It is available for free on NBC and Telemundo channels in over 145 regions, and also through many cable and satellite providers.

You can also stream it online since it has integrated with Hulu + Live TV.

Looking ahead, what is the future of Cozi TV?

There are no credible rumors of a Cozi TV shutdown in 2025. All signs point to a broader lineup and continued growth, with potential for new originals and lifestyle programs.

Cozi TV may not be as flashy as HBO Max, but it remains a steady destination for comedy and mystery when life gets overwhelming. The channel’s future depends on its ability to engage loyal boomers and attract new generations of viewers to its lineup.

Barring significant shifts, Cozi TV looks set to continue delivering its signature comforting programming well into the future.
