With the Xumo Play free, ad-supported streaming service, you can enjoy a wide variety of content, including live TV, on-demand movies, TV shows, local news, and sports.
However, before you can start watching, you may need to activate Xumo on your streaming device. Below is a step-by-step guide to setting up Xumo Play on various streaming devices to unlock free streaming content.
Activate Xumo Play on Xumo Stream Box
The Xumo Stream Box comes with the Xumo Play app pre-installed. However, before you can start watching, you will need to set up and activate the box.
Requirements:
To activate your Xumo Stream box, you will require a few things:
- A working internet connection
- Your home’s Wi-Fi username and password
- A Xumo account
- A separate internet-connected device, like a smartphone, tablet, or PC, to activate Xumo
Activating your Xumo Stream Box
Follow the steps below to set up and activate your Xumo Stream Box:
- Connect the Xumo Stream Box to your TV with an HDMI cable, then plug the box’s power supply cable into an electrical outlet.
- After the box’s power indicator lights up, turn on your TV and select the correct HDMI input.
- Remove the plastic pull tab (located in the battery compartment) on the included Xumo voice remote to activate it.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up the Xumo Stream Box, starting by choosing your preferred language.
- Next, connect your Xumo Stream Box to the internet by entering your Wi-Fi name and password. After connecting to the internet, the Xumo Box might perform a software update, and the screen may go blank, after which the device will restart.
- After Xumo restarts, follow the on-screen instructions, including the option to pair your Xumo remote with your TV to control power and volume.
- A prompt to link your Xumo Stream Box to your Xumo account will then appear. Copy the six-digit code, then visit Xumo.com/activate.
- Enter the activation code, accept the Terms of Use, and click “Activate Device” to complete the activation.
- Alternatively, you can activate Xumo by scanning the QR code on your TV with your phone, then following the on-screen instructions (on your phone).
After activating your Xumo Stream Box, head back to the home screen, launch Xumo Play, and start streaming.
NOTE: During activation, you may be prompted to select your TV provider for pay TV content. You can choose Spectrum or Xfinity if you have a TV package from these services, or set Xumo Play as your TV provider if you don’t have an existing pay TV package.
Activate Xumo Play on Xumo TV
Besides the Xumo Stream Box, you can watch Xumo Play on a Xumo TV (a TV with a built-in Xumo Smart platform). But, just like with the Stream Box, you will need to activate your TV to access Xumo Play and other services.
Below is a step-by-step look at how to activate Xumo on your TV:
- Connect your TV to an electrical outlet.
- Insert the batteries into the remote’s battery compartment, then turn on the TV. A welcome message will appear, followed by on-screen instructions for setting up your TV.
- Start the setup process by choosing your preferred language.
- Pair your remote to your TV by pressing the voice button.
- Connect your TV to the internet by entering your Wi-Fi username and password, or plugging in an Ethernet cable from your router.
- After connecting your TV to the internet, it may start downloading updates. Allow the updates to download and install, after which your TV will automatically restart.
- After the restart, an activation window will appear on the screen. Copy the six-digit code and go to Xumo.com/activate to complete the activation process.
- Alternatively, you can scan the QR activation code with your phone and follow the on-screen instructions to activate your Xumo TV.
- After activation is complete, return to your TV screen and finish setting it up (by choosing your desired apps, selecting the type of content you like to watch, adding content to your favourites list, choosing a time zone, connecting other devices, etc.).
- Once you are done with the setup, go to the home screen, launch the Xumo Play app, and start streaming.
How to activate Xumo Play on other devices
Xumo Play is available on multiple other devices, including web browsers, mobile devices, Amazon Fire TV devices, Smart TVs, Roku, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, Xfinity X1, VIZIO SmartCast, and more.
The good news is that apart from the Xumo Stream Box and Xumo TV, you do not need to activate Xumo Play on any of these devices to enjoy the free streaming service.
Instead, you only need to install the Xumo Play app on your device and start watching. Some devices like Xfinity X1 even come with Xumo Play pre-installed, so you only need to launch the app and start streaming.
