The Onn 4K Pro is among the most aggressive value-for-money TV devices on the market. It packs a lot of specs for a price that forces you to re-evaluate the usual suspects.
Here, we walk you through every feature that should matter to you before you buy.

1. Google TV AI features and ecosystem
You get Google TV OS on this Onn 4K Pro. This means you have a full Google content-discovery layer, Chromecast built-in, and Google Assistant deeply integrated into the remote.
You will also have easy casting from Android devices, voice control that can trigger other Google Home routines, and Google-style recommendations and watch cards positioned front and center.
Every time you want to show friends photos, cast a quick clip from your phone, or ask a single voice command to turn on smart lights before a movie. The remote gives you quick access to the Google ecosystem in a way Roku’s curated OS cannot match.
The “Gemini” branding on newer Onn models flags Google’s generative/AI features being brought to the TV surface. This will add smarter search prompts, AI content suggestions, and improved metadata surfacing.
That can reduce the time you spend hunting for the right episode or discovering high-quality documentaries you wouldn’t otherwise find.
2. True dynamic HDR and immersive audio
Dolby Vision is dynamically metadata-driven HDR. It tells your display unit how it should tone each stage rather than using a one-size-fits-all curve.
On compatible display setups, you’ll see better highlight roll-off, more detailed bright spots, and a closer match to the content creator’s intent compared with HDR10-only devices.
That difference is most visible in cinematic content, with extreme contrast between bright flares and deep shadows.
If you watch a lot of Apple TV+ or Netflix Dolby Vision content, or Dolby Vision-enabled Blu-ray rips via apps, Dolby Vision is a meaningful upgrade.
The Dolby Atmos support in the Onn 4K Pro enables passthrough of object-based audio to compatible AV receivers and soundbars. If you connect the stick to a receiver with Dolby Atmos, you’ll hear better and more layered sound even at high volume.
The Onn hardware will not create Atmos from stereo, but it will pass Atmos bitstreams intact when your display and audio setups support it.
3. Onn 4K Pro system-on-Chip (SoC), RAM, and storage
This stick features a good Amlogic silicon coupled with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
The combination improves app launch speed and reduces UI stutter. It also enables smoother background processes. So you’ll switch between Settings, streaming apps, and games with fewer pauses.
Its massive storage gives you breathing room for app updates and downloads. If you desire, there is also plenty of space for sideloaded APKs.
4. Onn’s Wi-Fi 6 and Ethernet port for network reliability
This Walmart stick supports Wi-Fi 6, which is based on the 802.11ax standard. It also has one gigabit Ethernet port.
Its wireless standard offers greater throughput and reduced interference on congested networks. This advantage will be noticeable when your home has many devices on the 2.4 GHz band.
The wired internet support from the gadget is your most reliable path to consistent playback. So always prefer wired for live sports or cloud gaming on consoles.
However, note that these do not magically turn a poor ISP connection into a fast one. Your ISP bandwidth and latency still determine the top-level experience.
5. Onn4K Pro’s HDMI 2.1
Walmart advertises HDMI 2.0 on several SKUs, while some listings suggest HDMI 2.1-like feature sets on selected models. So, ensure you check the specs as you purchase. The former will reliably sustain your 4K60 videos and most HDR setups.
The newer HDMI 2.1 supports features like VRR and higher bandwidth for 4K120 for better quality viewing. These only count if you are a gamer on next-gen consoles. For average users, HDMI 2.0 is OK, and if you plan to run 4K@120Hz gaming, get HDMI 2.1.
Equally crucial is audio passthrough. As we mentioned, the Onn 4K Pro will also pass Dolby Atmos bitstreams to an AV receiver or an Atmos-capable soundbar via that HDMI port. But your TV and receiver must agree on ARC/eARC handling.
6. Remote features
The Pro remote adds real small conveniences like backlit keys for late-night navigation, a remote-finder (“find my remote”) function, and a dedicated Free TV/Google Live button for quick access to ad-supported channels.
Backlighting saves fumbling in the dark, the remote finder prevents the midnight scramble, and a Free TV button reduces clicks when you want ad-supported live content.

For console households where multiple remotes live on the coffee table, these conveniences are tiny friction-reducers that add up.
The remote also supports Google Assistant voice search. This is faster than D-pad text entry, and Google Assistant’s smart-home reach means you can dim lights or check cameras without leaving the couch.
7. Onn 4K Pro OS updates, support, and reliability
Onn’s devices run Google TV, which receives core platform updates from Google. However, device-specific firmware and OEM optimizations come from Onn/Walmart and historically have varied in timing and quality compared with established brands.
You’ll get Google’s ecosystem features, but how quickly Onn pushes optimizations, bug fixes, or security patches depends on Onn’s update schedule. Community reports show Onn’s update behavior has improved as the product line matured, and Walmart has invested more in push-cycle reliability for the Pro line.
8. Gaming cloud performance and consoles
You won’t replace a PlayStation or Xbox with an Onn Pro, but the device is competent as a thin client for cloud gaming. It can do Stadia-like services, Xbox Cloud Gaming via browser/app, Steam Link, and Moonlight.
The modern SoC, Wi-Fi 6 support, and Ethernet option reduce input lag and packet loss for streaming games, which you’ll notice when streaming titles.
If you own modern consoles and want an integrated media hub, the Onn Pro is a good companion. It can handle all your streaming apps and still serve as a Chromecast endpoint for game clips and mobile screens.
However, this is not an indicator that it will replace a Shield or high-end streaming box for demanding local transcoding tasks.
9. Onn privacy, personalized recommendations, and ad-supported integrations
Because the Onn 4K Pro is a Google TV device, you’ll see Google’s recommendation rows. It will also have FreePlay live channels and personalized cards that reflect your account and watch habits.
If you prefer a neutral home screen, this can feel intrusive, but if you like customized discovery and quick access to content, it’s essential.
Additionally, Google’s data model powers the AI features (Gemini) and recommendations, which are excellent for discovery, but they tie more of your viewing profile to your Google account.
If privacy is a priority, review account-level settings, ad personalization controls, and the Google TV privacy toggles during setup. You can limit some personalization and ad-targeting features, but you’ll lose parts of the intelligent discovery that make Google TV convenient.
10. Price, value proposition, and buying advice
The Onn 4K Pro typically lands at $44.73 on the official site. This price point challenges other budget streamers while offering higher-end features akin to $100 gadgets.
That price-to-performance ratio is the device’s strongest argument. For under $50, you get Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos passthrough. You also have Wi-Fi 6, Ethernet, and a more capable SoC and storage profile than similarly priced sticks.
Hence, you have fewer compromises when upgrading older TVs or building a second-room media setup.
