The VIZIO Quantum series is a 4K QLED TV that promises big color and gaming features on a budget.
Under that series, there are five classifications, all with Quantum Color. They are:

1. The TV has excellent gaming performance
One of the Quantum series’ biggest strengths is gaming. These TVs have extremely low input lag, meaning there’s almost no delay between your controller and what you see.
Combined with support for 120 Hz operation at 1080p, your games will feel silky-smooth.
On 65″ and 75″ models, the Quantum even offers AMD FreeSync Premium VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), which dynamically matches the TV’s frame rate to your console or PC output.
Even for PC users, it works great as a PC monitor with its full 4:4:4 chroma support, which is ideal for clear text. You’ll find dedicated game modes and picture presets in the menu to optimize performance.
True 4K@120Hz is not supported on these models. You’ll only have 1080p@120, which, for most console and PC gamers, is a minor issue.
2. VIZIO Quantum series offers great value for the price
VIZIO has long been known for offering bang-for-your-buck TVs, and the Quantum continues that tradition.
You get a quantum-dot 4K display, a 120Hz panel, VRR support, smart features, and more. And all this is at a price far below what you’d pay for a similar Samsung or LG.
The brand sells a 75″ Quantum TV for around $799.99, which is almost unheard-of for a 75″ QLED. The 50” model costs well under $450, cheaper than most LGs, Samsungs, or TCLs.
3. They run on a smart platform
The Vizio Quantum series runs VIZIO’s SmartCast, which is now called VIZIO Home OS. A new set comes with all the popular streaming apps, like Netflix, YouTube, and Hulu, pre-installed.
The series has a voice remote with Alexa or Google Assistant. It also has a built-in Chromecast to launch apps or cast content directly from your smartphone.
A unique bonus is that VIZIO includes WatchFree+. This is a library of 300+ free live channels and on-demand titles. It includes news, sports, movies, and more without a subscription.
You’ll also appreciate that you can add your streaming device, like Roku or Fire TV Stick, via HDMI if you prefer, thanks to extra ports.
However, you cannot download new apps beyond what’s on their store. This means niche services or newer streaming apps might not be available unless you use an external Android, Fire TV, Roku, or Apple TV.
4. VIZIO Quantum series has wide viewing angles and bright SDR performance
The TV maintains good color and brightness from different seating positions. The LCD behaves more like IPS than VA, so you don’t need to sit directly in front of the screen. If you have multiple viewers, they will all get consistent quality across wide angles.
Brightness is also a strength, especially in SDR. The screen remains clear in rooms with a lot of ambient light. It handles glare well, which is useful in living rooms or during the day.
5. The not-so-good contrast and sound
All that said, the Vizio Quantum series does have its trade-offs. The biggest issue is contrast. Because the TV lacks any local dimming on the non-Pro models and has a modest contrast ratio, blacks and shadows aren’t very deep.
Even in HDR, very bright highlights won’t pop as much as on a higher-end TV. The picture can look flat if you’re sitting in a dark room. So, if you plan late-night movies or love deep blacks, a Quantum might disappoint you there.
Also, the built-in speakers are poor. So, you’ll probably want a soundbar for great audio. And as mentioned, the SmartCast system won’t let you add new apps beyond the few supported by the OS.
So, is the TV worth buying?
Yes, it is worth it. As we mentioned, the VIZIO Quantum series gives you the best value. It suits buyers who prioritize color, brightness, and gaming over cinematic contrast.
It offers strong performance where it matters for daytime viewing, gaming setups, or shared spaces.
Just be aware of its weaknesses in dark scenes, sound quality, and app flexibility.
