Losing ESPN, ABC, FX, and other Disney-owned channels in the middle of live sports or big events probably made you mad.
YouTube TV recognized that frustration and announced a one-time YouTube TV’s $20 rebate for subscribers affected while Disney content remained unavailable.

But here’s the important part: YouTube TV does not automatically apply that credit for all customers. You must claim it, and there’s a deadline.
Here is everything you need to know about who qualifies, where to click, and a few tips to make this painless.
The context of the Disney blackout
YouTube TV and Disney had a broadcast dispute that removed Disney-owned channels from the platform for a period in late 2025. Affected TV stations include ABC, ESPN, FX, and National Geographic.
The service posted a public statement apologizing for the disruption and said it would offer a $20 credit while Disney content remained off the service. It also emailed some subscribers with a personalized link to claim the credit.
After a deal was reached and channels returned, YouTube still has the $20 credit offer in place for affected customers.
Who is eligible for YouTube TV’s $20 rebate?
You should be eligible if:
- You held an active YouTube TV subscription while Disney channels were unavailable.
- You have not already received the credit automatically through a third-party billing system. Some customers billed via Google Play reportedly received automatic credits.
- Your subscription was not cancelled and then permanently removed before YouTube started issuing the credit links. If you paused/cancelled, you may need to reactivate to claim. The credit is available only to active members.
Step-by-step procedure to claim YouTube TV’s $20 rebate
Follow these numbered steps exactly. These work best on a desktop browser, although mobile browser use should work too:
- Open a web browser and go to tv.youtube.com. We highly discourage using the mobile app for this. The desktop site shows this flow reliably.
- Sign in with the account details that had your subscription during the blackout period.
- Click your profile picture. This is on your screen’s top-right corner. A small menu will appear under it. Choose Settings from that dropdown. If you don’t see your profile image, log out and use the correct details for your account.
- In Settings, select “Updates.” The option on your left-side menu. This is where YouTube posts service notices and any available credits or offers.
- Look for the section that mentions Disney content. It may appear as “Disney content is currently unavailable” or a similar message. If eligible, you’ll see a “Claim credit” button or link. Click that.
- You should see a confirmation prompt. The site says the $20 credit will be applied to your next bill or next billing cycle. Accept/confirm. The credit will then show on your account as a pending account credit.

Check your email for a verification message. YouTube also sent some users personalised email links. If you got one, clicking that link should apply your credit. If you used the Settings method, you’ll usually get an email confirmation as well.
Verify on your next billing statement that the YouTube TV’s $20 rebate appears. The credit reduces the next monthly charge rather than being a cash refund. If you have subscribed for the next month(s), this will be deducted from your next billing cycle.
Troubleshooting if you don’t see the Claim credit option
Try these in order:
- Refresh and sign out/sign in again. The settings updates are rolling out and sometimes require a fresh login.
- Use a desktop browser. As we mentioned earlier, the option appears reliably on desktops rather than in mobile apps.
- Check the account you used to subscribe. If you have multiple Google accounts, make sure you’re signed in to the account you’re subscribed to.
- Search your email for messages from the platform. Subject lines will be referencing a $20 credit or Disney. You will find a link in the email, tap on it.
- Confirm you were subscribed during the blackout. If you cancelled before the blackout, you do not qualify unless YouTube specifically grants a credit.
- Wait a short time and try again. The platform rolls out the links and UI in stages. Delays happen for some subscribers. If you still don’t see the option after 24 hours, contact support.
How to contact YouTube TV support
If the steps above fail, contact YouTube TV. You can do so via the Help Center or the in-app/website support flow. When you contact them, include the following details to speed your case:
- Your full name and the email address tied to the YouTube TV subscription.
- The date(s) you experienced the blackout and your expectation that you were an active subscriber at the time.
- A screenshot of your Updates screen showing no “Claim credit” button.
When is the last day for applying for the rebate?
You must redeem by December 9, 2025. If you miss that window, you forfeit the $20 credit.
